The point chart is a bit special. It lists two rates for many room types. For example, 2-bed requires either 11,200 or 16,800 points. What's the difference?

Thanks!

RCI points has two room types for 2-bed as well. The point premium for large 2-bed is 10% vs HGVC's 50%.

I think I've booked a total of 18 weeks at Kingsland. We're planning a family reunion where there will be 6 families in June of 2026. I can't tell any difference between the 6/6 and the 6/4.

I've always been placed in Phase 1. I've had upper floor, as well as lower floor.

I have always booked the 6/4 when available and the 6/6 when it is not. I've had consecutive weeks with one as a 6/4 and the other as 6/6 and was placed in the same unit.

It is possible that one is supposed to be larger than the other, but in practice it hasn't been any different for me.

I guess you could complain if you didn't get 6/6 while you paid for it. That's the insurance premium RCI is charging I guess. In HGVC chart, it's likely guaranteed roon type.

copied from the link above. I guess you could feel the room size difference but yeah, I really don't understand the point difference in HGVC point chart, being a 50% difference!

I would think people redeeming their HGVC points should always take the smaller/cheaper one.

Room size.

I think with HGVC you get the room that you book.

With RCI, there has never been a difference when booking the 6/4 or 6/6. Between, me, my family, and friends that have booked with RCI there was zero difference in the rooms. All of them were Phase 1 rooms, either top or bottom floor. We got building 1 our first trip and we put in requests for building 3 our last couple of trips and received them.

If one looks at the post in the resort info sticky above

one sees that there are really a lot of room types. For example, there are 8 different 2BD room type codes. And one does get the specific room type booked. We book a very specific room type each time (Phase 1, lower floor, 1BD) each time and then we have very specific room numbers we request. We always get the very specific two-letter-coded room type we book. So far we've been able to get the specific rooms we wanted but, of course, that's not guaranteed.

Cheers.

For 1BD, the size difference might justify the point difference, for 2BD likely not. It’s 50% more points to book a larger unit - not I would expect.

When we book a 2BR, we re thinking of 4 adult occupancy, and we book the larger unit so we’re not bumping elbows. If we were a family with small children, the smaller unit would probably be fine.

My wife and I stayed in a 2 BR small for 11 days in February while we were working from the road. It felt larger than a lot of other 2 bedrooms that we've stayed in. Even thought it's just the two of us, we get the 2nd bedroom when we are on the road working. We work from the road by choice, not required by our jobs. We found the 1 BR just too tight to be able to work and conduct meetings. I'd recommend the small 2 BR to anyone that is considering it.

We booked at Kingsland 2BP, which should be in building 1-4, 1st on 2nd floor. They were trying to put us in building 25 and stated that the rooms sizes were the same so the value was the same. Took some time but I was able to straighten it out. Thanks to Tug I knew what room I had paid for. So make sure you are checking what category you are in.

The larger 1BR and 2BR rooms types are in Phase I (buildings 1-11) and III (buildings 23-25). Phase III has a mixture of smaller and larger room types.

They were correct. There are Phase 3 units that are in the same category as the Phase 1 units, so you can absolutely be placed in Phase 3 when booking one.

On a recent stay at KL I had booked the smaller 2BR, first floor. At check in she told me I was upgraded to a second floor plus in building 25. We liked the unit even though we were way out there away from the main lobby. So, you can't always rely on what is booked there, but it was the first time we didn't get buildings first floor 21 or 22 like usual ( ph 2 ). We checked in on a Sunday, not the normal owner week check in day, I think that affects what may be available. We also arrived at 1pm and got the room right away.
