I own a fixed week fixed unit at Harbour Point for week 26. Fixed week Marriott units have always received their reservation number 18 months before check-in. I have always considered this to be a significant benefit because it gives me a 6 month advantage compared to a floating week if I decide to deposit or search for a trade.

This morning I received an e-mail with my reservation number for my July 1, 2017! That's almost 23 months in advance. Have others with fixed weeks been getting their confirmation number that far in advance?

Ray

I got mine the same about a month ago, but when I tried to deposit it II said it was outside of the resort deposit limits. Let us know if you are able to exchange or deposit it,

I do not currently have any plans to deposit it, but I may play around and see if I can search with it.

That's interesting -- I received my Maui Ocean Club 3BR reservation last week too, for late June 2017. Perhaps they give them to us early now to encourage us to deposit them to II (which can be snatched for DClub?)

Best,

Greg

Could this just be an attempt to add value for the owner of such weeks that are enrolled in the DC. I do not have any enrolled weeks, but I am assuming as soon as the week is provided to you, you can elect to exchange it for DC points (correct?). So if they give you the week now, and you elect now to exchange for DC points, it affords you the ability to borrow those points back into the 2016 Calendar year, which gives you the ability to book something in the prime summer months now, in summer 2015 for summer 2016....this giving you more potential DC usage than you would have had before?

Not sure if that's exactly how it works....but just tossing out one possible reason.

I know Trust points are put into our account 25 months ahead of their first potential use date....for that same purpose....allows you to borrow back a year, and then book 13 months in advance of that....giving you a broad window of time to use your points.

You can elect and immediately borrow DC Points for enrolled float Weeks long before the Reservation Windows open to book them - in my-vacationclub.com all of my 2017 Weeks have active "Elect Vacation Club Points" buttons. I don't know/can't remember if those buttons are active as soon as the Weeks are loaded or if they become active 25 months in advance of the first available check-in date.

Well that blows my theory out of the water.

I own 2 fixed week at the Monarch but some of the units at the Monarch are floating. In II they say floating and it requires a reservation number that gets listed in my Marriott.Com account. One of the two weeks is an enrolled legacy week, the other is not so I have 2 II account numbers.

The 2017 weeks are in my two II accounts. One week is 23 months away, the other is a little over 24 month. In order to trade I need to get the reservation number from Marriott.com. Marriott only shows reservation numbers for the 2016 weeks. I can not trade within II without it.

I own 2 fixed weeks at Frenchman's Cove and have never received a notice of my reservation number. I always call at the appointed time 13 months ahead. 2016 and 2017 show up in my Interval Account, like always, but I've never received an email. Is this a new service? Do I need to call at all?

An event week with a floating check in day works like a regular float week not like a true fixed week.

Thank you - that explains it.

I got an email in early March for week 8 and a separate email for week 9 for Monarch. Both are fixed weeks for 2017. RCI let me deposit one immediately. II wants me to wait until late Fall or early Spring 2016 to do the 2nd deposit with II.

After 3 years, I'm not that Impressed with INTERVAL INTERNATIONAL.

Greg, we did too so far in advance for March 2017 and I was wondering the same thing as you are too.

How far in advance can you select points instead of using the fixed week/unit? Just curious.

I got our week 25 2017 Harbour Point reservation email on 7/29. When I log into my-vacationclub.com I see a confirmation no. but there is a notation that it's too early to use my week. Guess that's referring to II deposits.

I have NEVER made a reservation that far in advance. I am just trying to give perspective here. Advance reservations are nice, and they feel all warm and fuzzy when it works.

I am a weeks owner at the Surf Club. Until I get denied a week I want, where I want, I will continue to split/deposit/trade my 2 bedroom lockoff and convert it into two or three weeks (via AC) in a 2 bedroom unit.

I would feel like an idiot if I just wasted my one week, 2 bedroom unit on an advance reservation at my home resort. Based on my history/experience that would be like throwing 7 or 14 days of vacation down the drain.

When I see discussion of advance reservation, which are typically stories of felling lucky to get what you wanted or complaints that the system didn't work - I get befuddled.

Does anyone think like me? Or am I the idiot?:wall:

This is what the II Buyers Guide has to say about the subject of how far out you can deposit a week.

Under the Deposit First method, deposits must be received by II at least 60 days, but no more than 12 months, before the commencement date of the deposited Week. Flex Deposits (received by II from 59 days up until 14 days before the commencement date of the Week being deposited) also are accepted, but any exchange request placed using the Flex Deposit must be made through the Flexchange exchange service.

Now, we know that II allows you to deposit further out than 12 months. I just did a test and found the magical cut-off date to be 2/10/2017 as of today. I could search with a week checkin in on 2/9/2017 but not one with a checkin of 2/10/2017. Trying to use a checkin on or after 2/10/2017 results in the message "Checkin date is beyond relinquishment limit of home unit."

So that leads me to beleive that even if you have a reservation more than 18 months out, the II system won't let you deposit or search more than 18 months out.

Some discussions about reservations are no doubt what you said, from folks feeling lucky or frustrated by the process. But this thread isn't a typical reservation discussion because the folks getting these early confirmations are used to that with their ownerships. Fixed week/fixed unit ownerships (of which there aren't very many) are automatically pre-booked by Marriott with the owners not having to do a thing. What they're saying in this thread is that instead of the confirmation being sent to them 18 months in advance of check-in, which was typical, this year they're being notified 23 months in advance.

Right, but the OP was excited that this happended. And I'm thinking to myself - WHY???? Again, from my perspective, I CRINGE when I hear elation from people getting the week they wanted by being the first to wake up on their advance reservation - automatic or not.

Don't worry about me though - my forehead is developing a tolerance from smashing this brick wall! :wall::wall::wall:

I definitely get excited when I'm on the phone as soon as the Reservation Windows open and I get the multi-weeks that I'm hoping to get, because 90% of the time we use our Weeks at our home resorts during high-demand holiday periods! But you're right - there's no one correct way to use timeshares. What's interesting is that your way, getting lots of exchange value, is what makes me cringe! II exchanging is not for the faint of heart, IME. :D

Here I read rsackett as more surprised than excited over the 23-month notice because it's a change in the process. Maybe it's a bit of both?

I was being surprised, not so much excited. I was wondering if it was something unusual or a change in policy.. It now looks like a change in policy that has very little effect since we can not trade it till 18 months out.

I am happy though that it automatically showed up in my Marriott account without having to call to add it.

For a fixed week/fixed unit owner they are not "making a reservation" as you or I might do as a floating week owner. They get the same week/unit every year so they already know that in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, etc. etc. that they will have the same week and unit they always do. The only thing the OP was saying that they were surprised that they were receiving the confirmation/notification 23 moths out instead of 18. But as a fixed week owner, they already know what their week and until will be forever and ever as long as they own the unit.
