Just Bought Nanea - question about enrolling SDO and Staroptions

You should still rescind and buy resale. We bought OFC, the last purchase (I do mean last!) was $34K, deeded oceanfront. Ocean view is cheap to buy! And it's ocean view.
Should do both. OFC resale plus retro for max flexibility.

Curious did you eve retro? you probably own enough to maximize retro of 7 properties of OFC better all fixed week 52. I cannot imagine how many points you can unlock!

Unless you're utilizing Abound Club Points, it doesn't make a lot of sense to retro mandatory resales.

We were grandfathered at the Chairman's Club level. We purchased resale, two weeks, and we were happy to discover we are Chairman's Club with our first two purchases. Our last two OFC purchases are just mandatory SO's in OFC.

I have yet to really use points in Abound. I keep thinking I should try it, but then I don't.

Got it. I don’t know what is the lowest MF/Abound point but with that amount of money, it makes sense and likely easier to manage with the flexibility of renting out points - not for everyone and not for me now.

I know this is good advice and it's still in the back of my mind

I read your other post and you said II no longer has WKORVN 1bdrm villas? I have a week coming up in June but that was exchanged back last year. Is this a recent development?

Deleted. Didn't answer the question.

Yes, @GrayFal has also been noticing the changes in deposits.

I have several August weeks that are 1 bedrooms that I was able to get with small one bedrooms at Sheraton Broadway Resort. Super cheap MF's, and exchange fee of $164 each. I am happy to have gotten those, especially since our best friends are celebrating their 50th anniversary during that time and will be using some of those weeks. Unless you can grab something that another II member exchanged out of, the studios are all we have been seeing. I am bummed, but maybe that will change back. Westin Princeville deposits have only been studios for a very long time.

Thanks for the reply. I have been seeing a lot of studios for Princeville but never thought about the north villas. That's such a big bummer. It has been relatively easy to grab the north 1bdrms in the past few years. Hope it doesn't dry up.

RIP 1BRs the last few months. @alwaysonvacation has been tracking also and it has been quite a few months since we have seen 1BR deposits

Makes one wonder because if they had a lot of deposits before and none now, are they just leaving these beautiful island view one bedroom units to sit empty? Are they upgrading owners who book studios to the one bedrooms? Is Marriott planning to use these units as a sales' tool?

Could this mean that more owners are choosing to use their 1BRs? Last week the resort (overall) was busier than we've seen it in the last few years

Vistana does bulk deposits; these are not an owner deciding to deposit their individual, actual units.
They are contractually obligated to give a certain number of units to II each year, but unit size does not seem to be part of that equation.

Marriott also does bulk deposits but individual owners reserve their units and deposit in II themselves. They get the trading power of that unit.

With Vistana, you are assigned a generic trading power designated by your season. A SVV high season week is platinum, a low season week is gold plus, etc.

Ahhhh, ok super insightful, thank you for the explanation.
