First time poster long time lurker.

How long should I Expect it to take before I get my Deed. and how long after that before I can reserve a week at the resort.

Resort is Massanutten if that matters.

Thanks

It depends on how fast the closing company processes the paperwork, how long it takes for the deed to be recorded and how long it takes for the resort to recognize you as the new owner. Usually 2-3 months if everything is done quickly. You may be able to have the closing company reserve a week for you.

Hi and Welcome!

Closing will almost always take longer than you ever imagined.

That being said, some closing companies are a bit faster than others and the process may also be impacted by whether the resort has a right of first refusal that you have to wait for.

If you are concerned about your ability to use your week, see if you can include in the contract a stipulation that the owner makes a reservation for you.

There are folks on this board who are WAY more experienced (and addicted) than me. They will have excellent advice for you but will be at their best if you can share the resort and closing company.

June Ebay purchase

I bought one in June and it still hasn't closed. The closing company said the deed was on its way to the resort today.

Don't worry we are waiting for three Deed

HI!

Don't worry! We recently bought a timeshare in California two months ago and two hyatt time shares one in sedona, AZ and the other in Florida all from Ebay. Our California timeshare deed is currently being recorded (we hope), but we just got word back on the hyatt (first right of refusal) and it has just been sent off to be recorded in Arizona. We are still waiting for word on the Florida Hyatt (first right of refusal). If this was our first time I would be worried, but we already own 4 other weeks and it varies from state to state on recording of the deed. We had one property that took almost 5 months. I hear out of country deed can take up to a year or more.

Have a great day.

Hi Gemsfw:

I just purchased a Hyatt resale in Florida. We submitted for Rofr last week. How long did it take you too hear back? How long should it take to close the transaction?

Thanks!

Ever been a city hall, or county administration building and see the employees drinking coffee and chatting together on on personsl phone calls while piles of papers sit on their desks awaiting processing?

Welcome!

I purchased a massanutten resort on early April and got a copy of deed 2 weeks ago and my name was on their system last week Wednesday. So overall process took more than 5 months. Good luck!

that has nothing to do with Massanutten. I have bought 2 resales for Massanutten - the first took months ( and months...) the second took about 1 month. Massanutten was extremely helpful in getting the paperwork for the first one straightened out after about 8 months of hassles with the closing company.

My closing was taking almost 6 months because of the closing company. Until I called them after 4 months from sign up the contract, they didn't do any work. They even didn't record the new deed yet. So from that 4 month, I had to call them every week to check the status. It was the longest closing process I had. Massanutten put my name on their system about 1 week later they got the notification.

Hi Lingber:

The first one was pinon point and took a little more than 3 weeks to get the rofr back. The one in Florida is still pending it has been 3 week and I am still waiting. My understanding is that they have up to 30 days to make a decision. The pinon point (which is in arizona) has been sent to the county recorder to be recorded, we expect that to take an additional 5 weeks. We have closed two other timeshares in Arizona and it took 5 weeks to be recorded both times. I am hoping once it is recorded it doesn't take hyatt a long time to set up my account. I have never bought a timeshare in FL I am hoping it is not a longer recording time than Arizona.

I hope this information helps. Have a great day. Maybe we will meet at some hyatt resort someday.

To finish off this old thread My Deed came through early Jan, but I knew it was complete in DEC and was easily able to book the Feb. 09 week we wanted Yahoo. No real issues at all.

Thanks to all who post here
