So the thing about timesharing - you get back and it's time to plan next year's vacation. 331 days in advance for FF airlines - you're at it as you step off the plane.

I like it though. Never bored. Always planning it - then reading and asking - then going - and back to the drawing board.

This summer was Spain (Marbella Marriott) and Orlando (Hilton). Next summer - Caribbean - one week either Grand Cayman or St. Thomas and then onto Aruba. :cheer:

LIFE IS GOOD!!

People think Im crazy that I plan so far in advance but when I take very nice vacations, they wonder how I can do this.

For example, my grown kids will say "I would like to go to......." and I ask them to give me some dates next year. They just look at me and think I can pull out these vacations our of my hat.

It is alot of work but I think of it as a challenge and its fun. Thats not everyone's cup of tea or lifestyle.

I have the same problem with my family. Don't believe they can commit months in advance and then dont' understand why I cannot get them where they want to go fairly last minute. I have been fortunate this summer and got some really great last minute exchnages to drive to resorts.

I think that half the fun is hunting down that perfect vacation. Planning is all part of the experience. Sometimes it's almost a letdown when everything is in place. On to the next quest!

That is soooo true! Plan for the next year...sometimes though it bites when I plan something really great 1 whole year in advance, and the airfare goes up to make me have to change that vacation and I lose $109 ugh. But then...I get to plan a better trip!!!! :whoopie:

I must say though, all of 2009 is planned and booked for me, and I still have more Wyndam points to use?! I guess I will have to use them for last minute vacations and planning for 2010 (of which I have started searches for).

:D I am so jealous, I would love to do Spain! But the cost of airfare for 6 people I can't justify to DH. Maybe 2011? I love chatting with you all about this, as many of my other friends with TS don't even plan this far in advance.

Seen on the net:
"I'm planning my next trip to WDW. Does anyone know what new hotels will open there by 2015?"

To make the best of this timesharing you do have to enjoy long-range planning! We have 2009 planned with winter and spring trips, with a few Wyndham points left for long weekends, President's week of February of 2010 is at the Mayan Palace, and now we are thinking -- where shall we go in May 2010??:whoopie:

Love Planning

I, too, plan long range in order to get the locations I want. My son and his family often go with us, but I get the feedback from them constantly that they just can't commit that far in advance. Well, I plan anyway and they go if they can. Many times they find a way. I know there may come a time when circumstances dictate a change in plans or cancellation, but if that happens it just happens. We are leaving in about a month for Banff, next spring to Hilton Head and also Yellowstone, next fall to Cape Cod and spring of 2010 to our home resort in Destin and our home resort in Gatlinburg. We are retired and really enjoy timesharing and traveling. Tug is really helpful to me for information and planning.

I always plan a year in advance. Next year we have a week in Las Vegas in March at the Marriott. In June-July we are off to Dublin and London for two weeks using Marriott points. I also have an AC that runs out in July 2009 that I need to figure out how to use.

Why on earth would you wait until you got back from a vacation to start planning future ones (Never mind next, that's already done)? Where's the fun in that.

Clearly we are a community of vacation planning addicts. Embrace it.

Meanwhile, I find that if I snag a great season and location a year or two out, I usually find a way to get the time. The worst that happens is one of my kids jumps into the breach and I get jealous.

I am not happy unless I have at least two vacations in the works. Right now I am working on three..... Dec.Colorado, Feb, Cancun and July, California. I love planning ahead, counting the months, dreaming, researching, etc. Definitely this is my passion. My sister has joined me in this obsession but none of my friends get it at all.
Thank goodness for TUG friends.

I thought I was the only crazy one!! I am always planning way out, just to make things work out financially :) Right now here's what's on my planning plate:

11/1-11/6 2008 Churchill, Canada - actually this one is done. Just waiting for the time to get here.

12/27/08 - 1/4/09 Ft. Lauderdale & Orlando/Disney - ditto.

3/21-3/29 2009 Flagstaff, Grand Canyon & Sedona - Still penciling in stuff

6/27-7/4 2009 New Orleans - combo work & play

8/27-9/12 2009 Hawaii - Waikiki + one other island, still needing to score exchange

August 2010 - Three weeks in Alaska (timeshare for house swap and RV adventure)

I am at Marriott Fairway Villas. We are in New Jersey for a family wedding this weekend. My 11 year old son saw me reading this and he said, "Mom's crazy. She's reading about vacation while ON vacation!" The other kid's laughed:eek:
