I have never used Jet Blue before but they have direct flights to Costa Rica, which is what I'm planning for March. They have very good fares to the end of February and then they triple in cost. Can I assume that the March fares will come down soon? Are their schedules reliable or should I be booking my connecting flight for the day before/after just in case of flight changes or delays? I also noticed that their fares are not listed on sites such as Orbitz or Travelocity. I'm assuming I would have to book directly with the airline, which is okay except I would have to do my connecting flight separately. These airfares are driving me crazy this year as I'm constantly second-guessing when the best time is to lock in before they go up. I got great prices for our Jan/Feb Florida/St. Lucia trip but it took many hours of computer time tracking fares!

Jet Blue To Costa Rica

This evening the fare dropped by over $200 per person so I made my reservation. To be on the safe side we're going to overnight in Orlando both directions. Now I just need to book my connecting flights using Airmiles. We've never been to Costa Rica, so we're very excited.

Unless there is a short term sale, the general JetBlue approach is to have the lowest fares when sales are opened for a particular time frame. As cheap seats are sold, the prices climb.
However, JetBlue does vary prices in response to anticipated seasonal demand which may explain why March is so much more expensive than February.
The best approach, and I see you took it when there was a price cut, is to book a flight when the price is satisfactory.
JetBlue tends to be among the best at not cancelling flights. The downside is that flights can be have long delays as they try to keep flying rather than cancel in the event of bad weather; a real concern in the winter since a lot of their flights involve JFK.

I love Jet Blue! They have big comfy leather seats, individual tv's and very fun employees. I will remind you that they were the ones the news was reporting about holding their passengers for hours on the tarmac a few years back, but I believe they've changed their policies and that won't happen again.
The first time I flew Jet Blue, the flight was delayed because the incoming flight had a medical emergency and they had to land elsewhere. While we waited, the Jet Blue employees played games - who has a red lipstick, who has the biggest hole in their sock, etc. Prizes were discounts on future flights! All the passengers received a $50 credit on a future flight as well. This was back in the days of $99 cross country (SEA <--> JFK) flights, so a $50 credit went a long way!
