I need a 4x4 Jeep that have the extended trunk space in the back.(to hold luggage from the airport) Ie. the Wranger Sport with extended cab.

Does anyone know which car rental company have these??. Is there any company that you can specifically reserve these and pay slightly more.

Does National/Hertz stock Wranger in their fleet in Aruba ?

I rented 4x4 in Aruba in the past and requested these from Royal- they ended up giving me a SUV and then switching them out 2 days later as they only have 2 in their fleet.

thankyou

It's been my experience that ALL the car rental places in Aruba are the same. They promise you, promise you, and when you get there, opps, they don't have what you rented...BUT....give it a few days, and they will. JMHO, it's a crap shoot. I just returned and our friends rented a very specific SUV like they have every year (Amigo car rental) and when they arrived...it was the timing belt, then the starter, then the battery...all excuses why they didn't have the SUV. 6 days later, they finally called with the rental (in the mean time, they gave them another one to use) and lo and behold, we had been looking at this SUV all week as another person in our timeshare had it.

My recommendation would be: http://www.arubaroyal.com/

I used Royal last year. My understanding that they lost their lease to a more familar brand and have to move off the airport strip.

I requested the Extended Cab wrangler. Which they promise that they will try. We ended up with a XL7 for 2 days till they they could get the Wrangler. Although they were helpful, they only had 2 of the "newer Wrangler on their fleet. It is soo much nicer with an newer and extended cab jeep where you can put the beach toys in the trunk. I would have no problem paying a few dollar more if we could get what we wanted.

The Jeep actually broke down on the way to the National Park cave entrance- (It could have been my fault in shifting gear)--They promply send two jeep to switch us out afterhour after around 30minute. I thought that was excellent service- seing that we were in the midle of nowhere and the park was closing.
Luckly for us-- the jeep didn't breakdown on the way to the natural pool.

Moving off the airport strip is/was a blessing in disguise. The government has institued a huge tax on any car rental dealer at the airport that they are obviously passing on...something like 13%. So, most are flocking out of "car rental row" at the airport and picking their renters up upon arrival and shuttling them off to their off site location now.

Good luck to you. Rest assured, for the most part, all the rental dealers operated the same. Wish I could be more help and/or more optimistic.

thank you. I thought the "brandname" one like national/hertz/avis might have newer jeep-- I guess they are all the same from your experience.
