Yes, it 's worth it. Cat Sanctuary wasn't even an option when I went. Plenty to see and do without it.

thanks-I had. But it seemed that all the people who had rave reviews for the Trilogy tour (or at least most other the people) also mentioned enjoying their van tour of the island. However, since that's no longer an option from them, I was wondering if a day would be better spent taking the ferry and exploring the island and snorkeling on our own at the beach if we wanted. And, if so, does anyone have any recs for island tours? Don't know how easy it is to explore the island on our own (if it is we can rent a jeep for the day).

I did it through the Trilogy tour. Sailed over, went snorkeling in the morning, came back to the boat for a wonderful bar-be-que lunch. Then we had the option of more snorkeling or a tour of the island. We did the tour of the island, the driver of the shuttle was a resident. Back then the big hotels weren't there.
