I found this delivery service while researching for my trip. Grocery delivery in Hawaii.
Has anyone used it before? How did you find the service, the prices?
We've always had a car when we've gone to Hawaii so we've done our own shopping. I like picking out what I want, especially when it comes to meats and produce.
I agree with Luanne, and I'm not sure I'd want someone else to do my shopping for me. I like seeing what's available locally, especially with produce and meat, and the only way to do that is to walk the aisles yourself. Added bonus - impulse buys that you find you can't live without, that may not be on the company's shopping list.
Also, this company's website says their prices charged are for "shelf prices in local stores." Not sure what that means, but it sounds like it could be very expensive. In my experience, the local price of a product can vary widely, depending on where it is purchased. How would you know they bought it at the local Rodeo Drive Grocery store, instead of the discount Mom-and-Pop down the street? And how would you know if they DID buy it cheaper, but charged you a higher price because it was the "shelf price" at a higher-cost local store? You wouldn't. Add in the $25 service charge per order, and it just doesn't seem like something I'd want to use.
We've also found, depending on where we are, that we need to go to a few places to get the "best" of what we want. There is a produce stand/market in Kihei that we love. We get most of our produce there when we're on Maui.

It is Kihei Farmer's Market. They are at the north end of Kihei, just before S. Kihei Rd. become N. Kihei Rd. There are a couple of other little stores near by.
I think it might be useful for those staying on Oahu not renting a car. We always do but I have met quite a few people who stayed at HHV without a car.
Getting to the big island around 7pm and by the time I get the car, got to the resort, I wasn't sure if things would still be opened, or if I would feel like going shopping(6 hr time difference). I had used a service like this at Disney and that's the only reason I was asking if anyone had experience with this one. In Disney we Got to the resort and the fridge was stocked! Since I will have a car, I will hit up the local places myself the day after. Looking forward to my First trip to Hawaii. Thanks for your advice.

What we usually do if we get in and don't feel like shopping that day, is go out to breakfast the next day, then go to the grocery store.
Where on the Big Island are you staying? The Safeway in Kona is open 24 hours. The Island Gourmet Market in the Queen's Shop at Waikoloa is open until 11:00 p.m. and the Waikoloa Village Market in Waikoloa Village is open until 9:00 p.m. However if I was staying in the Waikoloa Resort area I wouldn't want to drive up to Waikoloa Village the first night. I'd just get what I needed at the Island Gourmet Market.

We haven't used them. We do the same as Luanne and go for breakfast the next morning and then do our shopping at the same places too when we are in Kihei. In Kihei you do need a car, IMO, but I have met people at our resort (Maui Sunset) that do not have a car so do sight-seeing by taking tours and take the local bus for shopping. The bus stops right in front of our resort so pretty convenient.
I will DEFINITELY do this next trip!!!
We were so tired when we got in and we just didn't have the energy or patience to grocery shop. Postponed a couple hours then a few more then a day... it's not good for us to do this - the whole reason we have a timeshare condo is to use the kitchen. Tired, hungry people are NO FUN in Hawaii. If it were just hubby and me or if I went here on a girls trip then I would probably do the shopping myself but as a family with a kiddo who just will NOT calm down enough to get shopping done, I would welcome this service. Going to use it next time for SURE!
Edit to add: when I saw this before I didn't think it would work for us because I just made assumptions about the service. These types of services that I've seen in the past only got the most common items so a lot of the stuff my vegan family eats isn't available. But this service offers plenty
I could see using this too. We haven't yet though. It would be nice to come to a unit with something to drink and snack on. Items for a first breakfast would be nice too. Then we would go shop for ourselves. It would be a little expensive but it may be worth it.
You may be right, if you arrive very late from the mainland and had dinner a long time ago to have them deliver a few items that you would like to have when you arrive. It isn't fun to go shopping late at night after a long journey.
A few years ago we landed very late in Maui because we had to change planes at the last minute and we drove straight to Ka'anapali and expected restaurant/bars to be open somewhere on the beach path to have a Mai Tai that we were looking forward to but none were open. This is why I like Honolulu because it has a nightlife! I found out later that there is a restaurant/bar almost in walking distance of the MOC that would have been open still.
It's a good store. One tip: Make a shopping list before you get there. Every time I go into a grocery store on vacation where I need "everything," I just about ALWAYS forget some needed item (cooking oil, for example), and end up having to make another trip to pick up the missing items.
Keauhou shopping center is up the hill from Kona Coast. There is a KTA Super Store there. They are open until 10:00 p.m. every night. They also have a Farmer's Market that is open Saturday from 8:00 to noon. No need to go to Safeway unless you want to.
For Oahu we rent a can for 1 day when we first arrive. We check into the timeshare. Then we go to Costco & Don Quixote for groceries. My husband either returns the car the same day on the next day depending on the time and catches the bus back from the airport.
So for not much more than a car ride from the airport we get airport transportation to the timeshare plus all our groceries for a good price.
We always have a car on the other islands so no issue.
