We currently own a Villa Del Palmar property and have been happy. We are pretty new to timeshare though and wondered if they are a good purchase and a good solid property to purchase? or if we should have any concerns? We are currently looking for a second week to purchase and thought we would purchase in the same timeshare location. thanks for feedback.

It is a nice resort. We stayed there about 4 New Years ago. Did you buy resale and type size and season did you buy?

I had been tracking the PV area for a while for differant resort and noticed the Villa De Palmar have been going at fairly low prices on ebay. I think if you like the resort the prices last Nvember and December would have given you excellant value.

Some of the studio's there do not have a good location away from the water overlooking the tennis crount by the parking lot.

There maintenance fees seem to be fairly reasonable for what you get compared to some of the other PV resorts.

I had tracked the completed ebay auction results over the last year.

I would suggest you join Tug and then you would have access to the resort reveiws for $15 and you will see what other Tuggers who have stayed at your resort think. I have used those reviews to but quite a few resorts without seeing them based on the Tug reviews.

We have owned here for 17 years and go back almost every year to one of the resorts. I was just offered a studio at the newest resort Villa Del Arco for free, if I would just take over the maintence fees. If you get the gold membership you have access to all their resorts plus any future resorts they may build. By the way they are in the process of building a new resort in Cancun and one in Loreto( I think) several hours north of Cabo.

I also use it to trade and haven' t had too hard of time getting to go where I want. They are having their annual meeting this year at the Villa Del Palmar Flamingo's in Nuevo Vararta (Oct). If you ever get the change to attend they really go all out. We have attended the last two years. The meeting is very informative.

We just recently bought at Flamingos. Was staying next door at Play del sol Grand and got sucked in to buying a t/s at Flamingos. Yes, I know - never buy from developer, big mistake, know we overpaid, too late now. Wish I found TUG before. Haven't stayed there yet but rooms and pool look awesome. I was wondering who you do your exhanges through? We were told when we bought that they (UVC) do everything for us where ever and when ever we wanted to go and we'd get a guaranteed reservation. Unless there is a secret I'm missing, Our salesperson lied (BIG SURPRISE). So I was wondering if you get good trades thru II when you want or do you have to be really flexible? Or do you use someone else to trade? Thank You

I own a 1 bedroom at VDP in Puerto Vallarta. I would say it is a moderate trader with II. You can do searches on II website to get an idea of how good it trades and if you can find places you want. Just because it doesn't show up in a search doesn't mean you can't get it. I will ask for an exchange with a week trader that I can't see but saw it doing a search with a better trader. As long as it's not to out of whack you can get it.

we trade through II and have honestly had great trades. We have consistantly traded to Maui and the big island for two bedroom (we only own a studio right now in summer season). Even traded into the Westin for a week. Granted we haven't requested xmas week but have gone early december. I just wondered if there were better properties for trading etc.

Not sure if a successful trade in early December is an appropriate barometer to measure trade power. Weeks 49, 50 are likely the lowest trading weeks of the year.

We own two premiere weeks in a one bed 2 bath at the Villa del Palmar and reserved 4 weeks at the Villa del Arco last month. Universal Vacation Club is the developer and with a premiere week in UVC you can reserve in any UVC resort. Winter week owners can reserve any time of year. UVC is curently building a new resort around Cancun. There are 3 resorts in the Puerta Vallarta area , Villa del Mar, Villa del Palmar and Flamingos in Nueva Vallarta. Two resorts in Cabo San Lucas on Medano Beach, Villa del Palmar and Villa del Arco. Arco just opened spring 2007. We have always used our weeks and have only sold one week at Flamigos for $1500.00. You can also vacation bank your weeks with UVC.
