Is the Marriott Bonvoy Bevy worth the annual fee?

I take anything for him with a grain of salt. His recommendations are basically - if I get a good referral fee from the link on my site to that credit card it is a good one.

I signed up, and plan to cancel after getting the 125k bonus and spending $15k in a calendar year to get a 50k certificate, and hopefully cancel before the second annual fee is on my account. I'd recommend signing up right around the start of the new year because the calendar year spend is a neat little trick they are pulling as opposed to a year around your anniversary date. I have the discontinued $95/yr bonvoy card to use into the future with the 35k room cert. I also previously had a brilliant card but cancelled when the annual fee went up to $650.

I would keep it if it was the only bonvoy card in my wallet, knowing that the 15k spend isn't a problem, I think it's worth it, but the discontinued one is a better value IMO.
