Apologize if this topic has been discussed before.

I just received my annual II platinum letter, which included another Companion Airfare Certificate. Last year I registered it and received no response.

I am wondering whether this deal is a SCAM and not worth my time & bother. It certainly seems that way with the hurdles and lack of detailed information.

Are there any II platinum members that actually used their certificate last year? How good of a deal was it? Was it worth the hassle?

Thanks,
L2trade

I had a kind Canadian tugger give me theirs and have tried several times to use it but have run into either they don't go where I want to go or I can get the airfare cheaper just booking it. I will keep trying until it expires

Bad deal for Mexico

Regular cheap Cabo ticket from LAX $425. To use my free companion fare I need a full fare $700 ticket, then pay $99 and then pay $269 in Mexican airport taxes, so I pay over $1050 to use the companion as compare to $850. But deal a little better from Hawaii due to less Gov't taxes.

I booked 2 RT tickets for July from RDU to SFO for $570 in March. At the time, the best fares I saw were for $404, RT per person, so I am happy with it.
