Tuggers seem to know everything and this is not a t/s question...just a general question about Southern Il...the only time I go through the area is on our way to Fl...but now some friends have moved there to retire and swear the area is 'paradise on earth'.
Is anyone familiar with the area? If so, is it a nice retirement spot? particularly on the water? The homes we found online seem to be older and in need of work............ but is the area itself a nice place to live.......it's right outside Marion, Il...
Thanks guys, Bill:confused:

I'm only slightly familiar with it, but my sister-in-law and her husband moved near Marion after retirement and think it's heaven. They love to fish, and that's a big draw in the area. Low cost of living is another plus. You can live on a lake in the woods, and you're still close to Marion that has all major stores and Carbondale with the SIU sports and activities. Good, cheap golf in the area, and the Shawnee Wine Trail, too.
