Has anyone else gotten one of these invitations? It sounds good, but I am afraid to download until I know it really is from RCI.

I also got an invitation, but have not done anything with it. I checked the BBS to see if anyone else received this, and if it was valid.

shmoore,

This is a legitimate invitation from RCI.

I checked with the "myRCI Team" here and was able to obtain the following information for you. Some members have asked about security and any adverse affects for rci.com These are addressed as well.
myRCI is an RSS application developed by RCI with a partner. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a relatively older Internet technology that is really increasing in popularity. You've probably heard about things like blogs and podcasting recently -- all of these are related to RSS. If you'd like to read more about RSS, please check out this link from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS_(protocol)

myRCI is separate from rci.com. Other than the links delivered via myRCI, there is no technical relationship to rci.com. Although one could argue that the two are designed to work together. That being said, the development efforts surrounding myRCI are in no way hampering or delaying efforts to improve the user experience on rci.com.

RCI decided to create myRCI in order to better serve our members. We want to be certain that our members get timely and accurate information about their accounts. Email doesn't always do that well. We hope this information helps improve your vacation ownership experience. In the end, knowledgeable, happy and active members create a win-win situation for us. As an added benefit to installing myRCI, we will send you periodic specials available only to myRCI users. In fact, this is already happening. myRCI Specials include low-priced offerings as well as special access to premium vacation inventory.

Finally, on the adware / spyware issue. The only information we are asking for prior to installation is member ID, zip code, and email address. All of this is information we already have. The myRCI application does not collect any information from your computer or your Internet browsing habits. We created myRCI to help our members, not spy on them.

We hope you give it a try. We also hope you provide feedback (see the feedback link in the application) about how we can improve myRCI to better serve your needs. Look for a link to a survey to be published sometime before the end of the month.
