Marriott is Turning II into RCI

Free (or included with dues) for enrolled weeks. I think that is part of the reason, to increase that value of enrolling.

Interval is still $50 less than rci. But they do like to keep up with the Jones'; so when rci raises their fees, II usually follows. One small thing I like about rci is they announce there changes 3-4 months in advance to give you time to plan to make an exchange sooner rather than later, whereas II usually gives less than a 2 week notice before implementing hikes and adding new fees.

I know the exchange companies still work for a lot of TUG members, but in our case, both II and RCI priced themselves out of the business. Most of what we own is with systems that have good internal trade options. We do own 2 resorts that don’t, and those resorts we use ourselves rather than exchange.

One of them I would exchange if the membership and exchange fees were more reasonable. The cost just doesn’t add up because that week is an EOY week, so we end up paying the yearly membership fee X 2 plus the exchange fee, plus any resort fees plus our MF’s and it just hasn’t added up to a good deal.

We’re fortunate that we bought both of these weeks to use and that we continue to enjoy our time at both.

We like the flexibility of owning Abound Points and exchanging through II....it’s worked out pretty good for us over the years.

The thing I’ll miss about RCI is the transparency in trade power and point usage.

They have a much better search engine as well.

RCI increases fees willy-nilly, but II increases fees starting the new year, at least it's been that way for two years in a row.

RCI is $289, so it's $60 more, right @tschwa2? I thought RCI was $289 as of 12/1.

I am very interested in this, but for Marriott-Vistana, Marriott-Marriott and Vistana-Vistana, still not a bad deal.

yes $60 my math was off.

No one has to pay a penny to II as long as you stay where you bought, or bought retail and use enrolled benefits, or stay within an internal system. The downside of that is that your options may be limited. It is a choice. For us (resale buyers, not eligible for any enrolled benefits), it has worked out just fine - total cost (mf + exchange fees), the quality of our exchanges, and our experience with the customer service - II has been really good. For us, it's head and shoulders above RCI. I am honestly a happy customer. Am I excited to pay higher fees, nope. But that's how it works.
