If you own weeks, want to deposit two years out and keep searching, RCI may work for you. I think if you’re willing to travel on short notice, II is the best choice. I think I’m on my last year with RCI. I’m tired of searching and not finding anything.
This is so strange - my experience (well, so far limited in RCI exchanges though) is the complete opposite of yours. Maybe I have bad MF in II but I have 2 weeks, each about $1k. Most II Getaways for 2BR are up at like $800+. I've seen one resort offering points in II (as an independent). My OGS with II failed completely for Hawaii - maybe I didn't have good enough units but how would I ever know? I did manage to trade for Branson, but TBH it means I paid $1,300 for a week there when there's always availability. I'm hopeful that I can get some unexpected sightings in II to work out, haven't yet. The accommodation certs from II are jokes, I have to make a deposit or hope to win one to get a chance to pay apparently $400 for an "exchange", almost entirely for areas that I can just get an RCI Last Call at whenever I want with no need to be "granted" a certificate.

RCI - like II - kinda depends entirely on the MFs you get, my current HGVC matches pretty much anything but costs ~$1,600 after exchange and resort fees. I do still have leftover points though on a 2BR. I will know more next year after I get my Grandview, but from several posts on TUG you can get around $600 or less including fees if you're going last minute. Also because it's points, I am pretty sure you see everything, so again, you at least know if you just don't have the pull or not.

Anyway, if you're willing to travel on short notice where a deal appears I still think nothing comes close to RCI Last Calls and the cheaper Extra Vacations. You aren't burning a minimum of MF + exchange fee, and you're not limited at all to one or maybe two exchanges (if you get an AC), you can do as many as you want. You don't need to have 5 enrolled units to get 5-10 weeks etc. This seems much better to me. And II Getaways have 1/5 the number of RCI cash deals in my searching - there just are WAY less II Getaways shown anywhere I've looked.

I'm kinda tired of searching II and never finding anything when I can 95% of the time rock up to RCI and find a dozen realistic (for me) places just sitting there for me. I'm not even going to comment on how much of a PITA the II site is to use to find stuff that might be available.

That said - I'm certainly willing to believe everyone is having different experiences for sure.
