Interval Getaways cancellation success

It may be relevant in a unionized environment, but trying to do that in real life may backfire.

May or may not backfire but worth a shot. I would not want to work for a company who does not value me. They at least should pay fog damages of non refundable costs beyond my control.

Tell your work you had a planned trip and that everything is non refundable. You are loosing money on a preplanned vacation.Bill your employer the entire vacation plus airfare difference and hotel cost if your entire family is missing out or Friends add their cost too for a redo including If there is an increase in costs. Sure they will let you go especially If it was approved by your employer you are technically not allowed to be asked to work.

If you make a compromise that you will work remotely for x amount of hours that they will add bonus vacation days or overtime.

Another option can you push out your vacation by asking Interval not to cancel but postpone it and your employer pay for moving the flights and any non refundable things like resort. Have your Employer's Corporate Travel team rebook you in a similar or better resort, Airfare etc.

Another tactic is to say that you are going to a rescheduled Family reunion or wedding you are not obligated to show proof based on pre approved time off. Using this will make your boss and HR feel bad. It's not the lie of the century.

Unless it was not pre approved this vacation you have bargaining power. I would take the vacation as planned without working if it was approved and work with HR and another employee to take over.

If they fire you you can sue for wrongful termination based upon a pre-approved vacation. You can ask a lawyer what to do if you asked for time off at the time you bidded for vacation Pandemic no Pandemic.
Thank you! The kicker is, it’s not my regular job that is the issue. I’m actually traveling this week and missing mandatory training at my main job. We were told we couldn’t take vacation in June 3 months ago but i told them i had this planned 8 so I’m good to go.

For the getaway trip It’s actually a group I am an independent contractor for. The annual meeting is mandatory in order to work. I’d rather not lose the rooms but it is what it is. I’ve changed plans and booked the Bahamas instead by using next years points. At least I’m going away :)

I’ll see if any friends want to go in my place. It does come with travel insurance so I hope then entices people but so far no one wants to go.
