I was under the impression that Marriott to Marriott exchanges do not cost in Interval International. Is that true?

A few in S and VA, a single resort in NC, MD, PA, and UT, plus Jamaica and the Bahamas
That is true if you have enrolled your weeks in the destination club and are using the Marriott corporate account.
If you are not enrolled and/or not using the Marriott corporate account, you get a discount on Marriott to Marriott exchanges.

Even without exchange fees for enrolled weeks, you will still have to pay upgrade fees if trading in to larger units.

And as you know, you would have to pay multiple upgrade fees if for example exchanging from a 1 Bed to a 3 Bed unit.
Those fees vary, with reduced rates if Interval Gold or Platinum members.
