I am once again forced to give a week back to II, a week they will have no problem getting someone else to take. I guarantee that when I give this week back tomorrow morning, someone will take this week within a couple of hours.

I think my biggest problem with the loss of the cash, and the added loss of the trading power of my original week (which usually has great trading power), is that this particular week was an ongoing request, and II kept calling over and over again with alternate locations and dates, other than what I had requested. The calls were relentless and annoying.

I took this week after a guide convinced me that inventory was going to be less for this particular group of resorts, and that I should take what I could get now. So I took it. A few months later, exactly the dates and resort that I wanted came available, so I took that week instead. I kept the week for our son and his wife to join us, and they are now unable to go because he has just switched jobs and cannot complete his current project in time to join us.

I am hoping our daughter-in-law can get her sister to go, but if she cannot work that out, we have to give that week back. I am so annoyed. :annoyed:

Cindy

I feel your pain. I just gave away a week at the Royal Haciendas because I had used a replacement week and now find I can't go. Right now I have NO trips booked. I am so tired of cancelling and losing the fees.

I booked a two week trip to hawaii in May of this year and didn't start looking until feb. I think that for the moment, my trips are going to be last minute only. You would cry if you knew some of the weeks I have cancelled:(

And the reduced trading power of the original week is such a terrible punishment. :( Both companies do exactly the same thing, and it is so costly to us as owners.

Yep, it really is awful. I've had family back out a couple of times---they just don't get it!

Luckily, Wyndham generics in RCI don't suffer this problem, because generics are always all the same. Unluckily, they're lousy traders in the first place.

I feel your pain Cindy. You too, Chelle. Believe me, if I actually tallied up all the cancellation fees I've had to pay, I'd get pretty depressed. It's particularly bad with RCI...'cause the really good exchange inventory is available two years into the future...and who can plan that far ahead in these bad economic times, not to mention with all of us aging and our parents aging, well, you get the picture? :wall:

P.S. It still really really galls me that RCI charges guest certificate fees to long-time dues-paying members but not to their various govt & other vacation clubs & rental schemes. :annoyed:

From a different perspective....

I'm anticipating cancelling two reservations with II that I made BEFORE I knew I couldn't rent them. Reading this thread at least makes me feel a little bit better knowing I'm not the ONLY one having to turn back weeks and lose my exchange fees.
