I haven't been to Waikiki in perhaps ten years or more. I used to love to go there, especially for hand crafted items and also tacky gifts. Does anyone know if it is still there, what with all the gentrification that has gone on? And if you've been there, is there still a food park there?

If the answers are yes and then no to the food park, anywhere else nearby that is interesting and not too expensive to eat?

I'll only be there for one day while on a cruise. I don't care about PCC, Luau, or Round Island tour, cause we've done both of these many times over the years.

TIA, as always.

Fern

The marketplace is still there, scaled down a bit. I think the food court is there, too, but didn't pay any attention to it last year.

Yes, there is still a food court there. Prices are all over but there are some
cheaper places too.

If you're International Marketplace and you're looking for food, you should go all the way through until you come out on Kuhio and look for the Puka Dog shop. They were rated one of the top 10 hot dogs on the Travel Channel.

Puka Dog sounds good. Is it a take away place, or do they have some sort of seating where you can eat? Is it on street level where it is easy to find, or do I have to search, even with an address?

Thanks.

Puka Dog does have several tables where you can sit down to eat. It's on the street level and you can see it from the intersection of Kuhio and Nahua. It's on the side of Kuhio closest to the ocean. Their first place is in Poipu Kauai, and they hope to open one in Maui some day.

When we were there last March, International Market Place seemed pretty much the same as it has for many years, except for the change of vendors in the food court. We'll be there again next March.

The food court in International Market Place is run down compared to what it used to be. There are so many better places to go.

The Shorebird on the beach has a great lunch buffet for $10 at the Outrigger Reef Hotel. If you want a food court, there is a new one on the second level of the Royal Hawaiian Shopping village that is right in front of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel. Both are an easy walk from the Marketplace.
