I "liked" the Marriott Destination Club Owners page on Facebook awhile ago. Today someone posed the question wondering if Trust owners would miss not having a home resort. I posted that I wasn't happy with the unit locations I'd gotten in the DC and would probably not convert to points again. I went on to say that home resort weeks owners get priority over DC owners in unit locations.

My post was quickly deleted. Now there are only posts commenting about how home resorts aren't important and how much better the flexibility of points is.
Is that Facebook page really hosted by an owner or is it really just a Marriott corporate site?:ignore:

I am not sure if it is an official MVCI page or not. Though it would seem so if they have so much bias toward the product that they don't want people to see the possible negatives.

It's really funny to read the thread now. It is nothing at all negative in any of the posts. I don't think it is possible that no one thinks home resorts are important. Looks like someone named Bill Mills started the group.

That seems to be the same person that started the Ko'Olina Owners Facebook page. No official MVCI affiliation.

It doesn't look like any of the other official MVW Facebook pages, as it's a Closed Group with 1 Creator and 15 Administrators who don't appear to be associated otherwise with MVW. I can't see when it was created - all of the resort-specific and "Marriott Vacation Club" official FB pages were created sometime in 2010.

It's not the first unofficial Marriott-related closed group website that censors unwanted comments.

Yep. Here are all of his TUG posts, most having something to do with his private Facebook pages. He's made it pretty clear that he wants his pages to be Happy Places. :D

When I click on your link it says "sorry, no matches."

I don't think it is possible to link to a set of search results in vBulletin?

ETA: I just tested this. Your searches seem to be tied to your TUG User id. So you can only link back to your own searches. I did a search, copied the web address and then logged out. When I pasted the web address in, I got the same error message I get when clicking Sue's link. So, that link will work for Sue, but not anyone else.

Huh. You learn something new every day! To get the same results, click on "Find all posts ..." under the "Statistics" tab of this Users List link to Aloha Bill.

(Hope that one works.)

Crashed and burned again Sue. :(

This method will take TUGgers a few clicks, but should get the job done. If you click Search from top menu bar, then click Advanced Search from pull down list, enter "Aloha Bill" in "Search by User Name" area and then click Search, you'll get there.

One of his posts.

Ill give you complainers a simple answers why I created two FB pages. I want my sites to be a nice place to enjoy....not attacking each as part of the subject matter. I want only people who are constructive talking about the specific why they joined my FB pages, if something comes up that's a problem specific to our ownership.....we all learn and better our selves. But if conversation comes up attacking like the above nonsense ill remove them and they can find another place. Now I can see this will provoke some to continue attacking me, in short, stop! Your not playing well with other children. But if your looking for another place to enjoy your ownership and a page to enjoy come join us. We're peaceful and really love our ownership. Aloha....I hope this tread becomes positive and helps owners. I meant no harm.

So in his words, if you don't agree with him you are not playing well with others.

:bawl::bawl:

Edit-I used Sue's link in post nine, clicked on "see all statistics" then clicked on "find all posts by..."

Im a member of this group but haven't got much out of it in the past. I prefer to use TUG as my go to place for TS info.;)

Well I didn't attack anyone. Someone had been to a sales presentation and had asked the salesman if Trust owners missed having a home resort. She then posed the question on Facebook - some did and some didn't. I just replied that I converted to points once and got a poor location so I wouldn't probably convert to points again. I said that home resort weeks owners take precedence over points owners in most resorts in unit placement and for that reason I would want a home resort.

You should be ashamed of yourself for expressing your views and opinions. :D

Someone else complained that their post was deleted but they denied having removed it. You are right, it was all happy posts. I started to think it was a Marriott corporate Facebook page.

It looks like it may be time to start your own FB group.

That actually sounds like a really good idea. If nothing else, that would provide a pretty easy platform for questions (and then just link back to TUG since most of the questions have already been answered. :)

At least one exception, at MOC it primarily depends on the reservation date. There are other criteria to help break ties, but that's the most important factor.

That's true. Now that the points reservations can start any day of the week, sometimes there isn't much good leftover for the weeks owners with fixed check-in dates.

I recently joined the Aruba SC FB page. A discussion about a guy upset he couldn't get "his" week-trying to reserve in 4-5 weeks IIRC. I commented that its very close and likely full. He said..."No way, he's guaranteed a week when he wants it." Then the thread took off. So much misinformation I was laughing.

Exactly the same experience here when a lady called us from the guest relations department. She was apologetic and told me that we were so late requesting this so asked me what tower we would prefer but we wouldn't get our first choice which was a high floor close to the ocean.

I told her that I didn't know as we had never stayed in the original section. I asked her to make the best choice for us, in her opinion. They know the resort inside out and we were very pleased with what we got. We got high floor but far back which is still a very nice ocean view!

We are legacy week owners at MM1 so the date stamp must be for legacy as well as trust owners at the resort. I have no idea how it is for Marriott owners exchanging in from another resort. We used elected points from MM1 to stay in MMO which is at the same location so that may have helped.

I am a member at our resort on Facebook but do not follow it and it would be a complete waste of time if they delete negative posts. IMO.

I signed up but will they let you belong to it if you do not own pure trust points? I prefer TUG so much more than Facebook as most of it is advertising or sharing links but I like it for the pictures that people post so will stay signed up.

I have no trust points. I signed up for the pictures also and resort reviews. This was the only time I posted anything because a poster asked for commentary. I guess it wasn't Facebook-worthy
