Yep, this happened to me. Sheraton Broadway Resort. This former guest of mine is no longer allowed to stay in any Marriott or Vistana timeshare again.

I know Koala provides insurance for the timeshare owners who rent on Koala. I never thought this would happen to me, and I didn't use Koala for the rental, I used RW.

By the way, my guest's last name is Brockhoff. If you are thinking of renting to her, be advised that she didn't answer an email I sent her directly to ask how the units were damaged and what exactly happened.

So were they banned/trespassed from Marriott resorts? What kind of details did the resort provide you, if any? Is the resort trying to charge you for some damages?

What were the damages/cost? Did they run her card at check in and charge her card for the damages or are they charging you?

I have seen people worry about this possibility, but you are the first person who I have actually heard dealing with this situation. Yikes.

They may get in touch with me again. The renter is banned forever from ever staying at a Marriott/ Vistana resort. The woman rented weeks at Hilton Head resorts as well. I have no idea which units were damaged. Seemed vague.

Lucky me. She rented several weeks. I don't know the extent of the damage and what they will do about it. Brockhoff is banned from Marriott/ Vistana. I usually don't rent much SBR and I had a contract outlining damages are the responsibility of the renter.

I don't know how far this will go, but I am worried. Maybe she caught something on fire in the kitchen. It was over Thanksgiving.

Just FYI - the contract you have with your renter, which requires her to be responsible for damages, doesn't mean the property cannot pursue you for responsibility. It simply means that if you are charged costs relating to her causing damages, that you have a right to pursue indemnity from her. The property does not pursue your renter directly in the event that the cc she used is declined or she does a chargeback. You remain ultimately responsible vis-a-vis the property. Then you go after her.

I recently heard there have been some VRBO's rented up on the Grand Mesa and criminals were cooking meth in them.
