Insurance for FF tickets and more

I have never purchased insurance for using airline miles . Do you think this is worth having for $25pp? We have elderly parents which is always a concern these days. Thanks for your opinions

When to Use This Program:

Awards Trip Protector provides coverage for tickets purchased using frequent traveler miles or awards. This coverage includes a trip cancellation/interruption benefit for non-refundable purchases if you have to cancel your trip for reasons like medical emergencies, natural disasters and bad weather. Your coverage also includes benefits such as change fee coverage, emergency medical and dental, emergency medical transportation, travel delay and concierge services. Many airlines allow you to cancel award tickets for a fee. For instance, Delta charges a $75 cancellation fee and $100 to redeposit the miles back into your account. Check your airline for their policy.

These "insurance" programs are expensive ($25/ticket) and usually have hurdles that you'll have to clear, such as filing a claim within x days, getting a doctor's affidavit, etc.

My best advice is to enjoy your trip. If the unthinkable happens, then deal with it as it comes.
