Ikea Mattresses

We need to get my daughter a mattress (and box spring, if necessary) for her apartment. Has anyone purchased one of the Ikea mattresses, and what was your experience with them? She needs a firm mattress, and I see that several of them include springs in the mattress itself.
 
Forgive me, because this isn't an exact answer, but while I haven't purchased an IKEA mattress, I have had to help 2 of three kids set up their first apartments. There is a memory foam mattress from Overstock that comes in three firmness's that is wonderful I believe it is called comfort Dreams. You can pair it with a foldable metal spring platform. You can probably get both for less than $500 plus shipping (to their door) is free. It has worked great for us. Just a thought.
 
An Ikea mattress wont last very long. When buying a mattress dont fall for the "If you find it cheaper or any other price gurantee". Go to a mattress store find the brand, line, and firmness you desire then head straight to the internet. I got my bed at an $800 discount by purchasing online via mattress warehouse (close out/clearance). What the stores dont tell you is that you wont find the same model anywhere else. The mattress makers slap a different label on identical beds. Costco also has a good mattress selection at reasonable prices (better pricing in store).
 
Not a mattress testimonial, but my daughter has an entire Ikea kitchen. Certainly not high end but looks great and of pretty good quality. It doesnt look out of place in her upscale neighborhood

Ive wanted to visit a Ikea store ever since I saw that kitchen and the Ikea catalog

I think Ikea has a store in your state. Why not make a day of it and see the mattress yourself
 
Have an Ikea mattress and no problems with it at all. It is now about 20 years old. It is one of the older ones from when they first came to the US and is an odd size (is a Swedish size) so you can't buy regular sheets for it. I believe they remedied this and now they use U.S. sizes for their mattresses but for the older models would only fit sheets bought from Ikea in Swedish sizes. It is a firm mattress and has maintained the firmness. It isn't used as a primary mattress now but has gone to a guest room but was originally the main mattress that I slept on every night and was very comfortable.

Yep- there's an Ikea in our area, but 30 minutes from us, so thought I'd see if the drive is worth it first.

One daughter has the solid foam mattress from Costco online and it seems ok, but we already had a box spring to put it on.

This bed is for someone who's had back/neck problems, so I want her to be able to check it out herself before we buy. I don't want to spend huge bucks but need to get something good enough that it will provide decent support.
 
Love the mattresses at the Wyndham timeshares. Anyone know what that one is? I used to have that information.
 
The Ikea mattress that I have is an all in one- no separate box spring, just the one piece. That is the european style and was all they had when I bought. Don't know if it still the same style. It is quite firm and has a wooden frame underneath- built very solidly. The legs attach to the wooden frame so it sits quite low- also euro style.

It's worth it, all right. Be prepared to spend at least half the day, wandering through the entire place, buying well-priced things you didn't know you needed, and definitely, absolutely definitely, have lunch or dinner there!
 
I bought an ikea bedroom set with matress 5 years ago. I love it, plus I love the cash I saved. I'm shocked at how well its held up with 2 large guys sleeping on it each night :)

I got it, the bed, 2 night stands and dresser for under $1200. Couldn't do that anywhere else.
 
Hey... I don't have any idea about Ikea mattresses as I have not used it till now. But you ca buy foam mattress for your daughter's room. These are very soft as well as relaxing. I am sure that your daughter gonna love this. Try it and also post your reviews about it.
 
DS #2 bought his entire bedroom set at Ikea for close to $1K. He loves his mattress, and is pretty pleased with the furniture too.

He's in Chicago, we don't have one here, but sure wish we did.

We drive 2 hours to go to King of Prussia for the day because of a large mall they have there. There is an IKEA store about 15 minutes away and I always make my family stop there first. Then they have to drag me out of there because I love looking at all the gadgets and stuff and can't decide what to buy. I would love to have one 30 minutes away.

We didn't get matresses from there but we have gotten headboards/footboards. We got one of the relatively cheaper models and they have stood up through the beatings my kids and their friends have given them. Prior to that we went through several frames that ended up broken, so I was pleased with the quality and the price.

I would love to have one of their kitchens, but the distance makes it not cost effective.
 
I use to love Ikea. But over the years the quality of their products have gone downhill. My little daughter's bed fell apart as did the kids bed purchased by several friends. The stuffing in my duvet has disenagrated as well as my pillows. Simply things like cooking utinsils just snap in half. My sister's iron bed has held up well though, and my husband has a small sofa that's still in great condition. But these items were purchased before their stuff got really crappy.

You can probably get a good deal on a mattress but know that you might have to replace it much sooner than you planned.
