We had traded into Ocean Pointe in January a couple of months ago and had put our rewards number on the reservation.. we had to cancel since we are traveling out of the country during that time.. I guess no one else booked the week? I don't see it as available in II and just received an e-mail from Ocean Pointe Vacation Experience Planning for our room request?

Same thing has happened to me in the past. I have often wondered what would happen if I showed up and tried to check in!

I had something similar happen with Newport Coast in February 2010, the week still showed up in my Marriott.com account. Though the name on it was no longer mine but because my MR number was still attached it was in my account. This is likely why you got the pre-arrival email. Did you log in to Marriott.com to see if your name still appears on the reservation. For a while, ours had some weird name on it until an actual person got the exchange for it.

I didn't receive a pre-arrival e-mail, but I was e-mailed the folio when the person who did get it checked out. I guess they were not MR members. I could determine they were from Singapore. We received elite night credits but there was no spend, so no points.

It's odd, if you reserve through my-vacationclub.com or marriott.com then your MR number is usually attached to a timeshare reservation, but if for some reason (II exchange, rental, etc) it's not attached then you have to call in to get it added. I think this is why there is still sometimes pushback from some Marriott reps to not do it, because there's a disconnect somewhere that requires an extra step for them to remove the owner's MR number if a reservation is canceled/exchanged/rented/etc.
