II membership problems

I joined II in May and paid my $84. In June they called and offered me a "special" two years for the price of one. Okay, good deal I thought. I thought it was strange that they just didn't give me the extra year, I had to pay the $84 again but was assured that they would charge my card the $84 for the special, but I would be credited back the original $84. So I said ok.

Of course they took the additional $84 immediately. After a few weeks I still hadn't been credited back the original $84. So I called them. After a lengthy explanation of what was going on, the lady didn't understand why I thought I would get back the $84. She said it was my membership fee. She put me on hold for awhile and came back and said she would only be able to give me $70 because I had to pay for the period of time from when I signed up to that date. ?????? I thought ok, get me the $70, even though I was told I would get the entire $84. And the $70 did show up on my bank account. THis was July 16.

WHen I joined in May I immediately deposited my week, which was a late deposit. So jump ahead to today when I log into II to book a week for that late deposit, since we are FINALLY going to be able to take some time off soon. Now my account says it is EXPIRED and I have to pay to renew.

I get on the phone with II. This time the lady says "oh, I see where you paid $84 twice and then were credited $70, I don't know what to tell you". I told her that she needed to reactive my account because I paid for a two year membership. She said "it is expired". How can it be expired when I paid in June 2008 for two years!!!! She said she would talk to a manager and call me back. I haven't heard anything. I also sent an email to II.

Since this is basically my only experience with II does anyone have any advice on who I can call to try to get this straightened out? All I want is to be able to book a trip for crying out loud!!!!!!!

Call II and ask to be transferred to customer service.

II is always on top of things

Just another typical interaction with II. They do "take care of" paying members. (pay pay again I guess). Gotta love 'em.

The person I spoke with at II actually called me back. It looks like they got everything straightened out. I do understand mistakes can happen, I was just worried when it didn't look like it was going to be corrected.

Now I am off to book my first exchange!!!

I actually had a good experience with II yesterday. I had a request in for a week at Kona Coast II and it came in. The date was wrong since I already had an exchange there for the same week Thur-Thur and the new one was Fri- Fri. I wasn't sure if it was my mistake or theirs so I was going to call and cancel it and start the search again. While talking with the rep I asked if I could keep the new exchange since the Fri check in was better for us than Thur. And asked if it could be done with out a penalty fee. She could see what I needed since I had another week that was Fri-Fri in Kauai. She said she could do it this time without the penalty and reinstated my older week search with the correct dates and was able to keep the better Fri-Fri at KKII. A lot depends on who you get. She didn't do the I have to check with a supervisor thing.

II "understands" ???

That is one of the "most ridiculous" things I have ever heard. !!!

I "had" been a member since 1983. (Isn't that about 25 years???) I just let my membership "lapse". Reasons??? How about requesting timeshares at the two year out period (mostly "off" season,--- AND, you can see a "bunch" of availability in the 59 day window) BUT, "nothing" is available to you. Answer from II---"we didn't see anything we thought that you would like" !!! What a bunch of "hogwash" !!! Some of the 59 day availability was EXACTLY what I was looking for !!!

As usual, for the last few years, I will continue to use the "secondary" exchange companies. !!!

Tony
