I would say it either means nothing and is exactly the same or it IS closer to II's hands, obviously which it is none of us know.
They certainly created the option for a reason. If they didn't want us to use it for it's name purpose, why have it. It may mean it is closer to II's hand administratively. Which we don't know or see. Perhaps less steps for MVC when deposited. That could be a good thing resulting in fewer errors. Though all hypothetical and guessing, but still based on some experience of how they handle request first and deposits.

Is this "II Exchange - owner deposit" a relatively new option? I've always stuck with the "Occupy" option and then manual deposit based on wanting to avoid issues that might occur within the MVC to II interface, and using request first.

What I have experienced is when I cancelled a request first that hadn't matched so I could take advantage of depositing with the promo AC offer, my week didn't get properly released back in to my MVC account for me to be able to re-deposit it. MVC CS could see it but I couldn't even several days later, so I had to get CS to do the deposit for me. That did nothing for my confidence in the system interfaces and made me even less likely to give up perceived control over my reservations.

As this thread is showing its quite possible that the perceived control is limited or absent, but until I get better info via experience I'll go with that.

That option has been available for more than a decade. Here is a thread from 2013 discussing it.

I don't think there is really a good way around the issues with request first and cancelling a request. For those types of requests you want to select Occupy since there is the possibility you will use the week at your home resort. However, if you know 100% for sure that you are just going to take the reservation and dump it into II right away then use II Exchange - Owner Deposit. It seems MVC created that option for that very purpose.

Hi Again,
Newbie question again. I got my prime week, selected occupy, and now want to deposit into the II system (request first, of course). But someone mentioned something about a corporate account. How do I know if I have more than one account? If I can see my resort in the account, then does that mean it's the correct account?
It's a tiny possibility that I have more than one account because I own at DVC and they used to be with II - but I haven't used it for more than a decade.
Help, please - I don't want to mess this up!

If you are doing “request first” you don’t deposit your week- RF means you hold onto your home reservation until your request comes through.
If you are sure you are going to exchange and not stay your home week then deposit it and place your request (deposit first).
If your week is enrolled in Abound then you have a corporate account paid for with your Abound dues. If it’s not enrolled you have a personal II account that you pay for yourself.
When you log onto your II account and go under exchange, then my units you will see your owned units listed.

Got it, thanks. I don't pay any II dues and my week is enrolled, so it must be the correct one.
So excited!

Why are you doing request first? If you don't want to use or rent the week, deposit up front. You should be able to see your corporate account number on the MVC website for II.

Just a word or warning with request first. You will get an email saying its been deposited and it looks very much like you are actually depositing, so don't panic if you get that.

Take your time going through the process so you put only the resorts and dates that you will accept so your search doesn't throw up things you have to cancel.

All the best
