II changed Rules on Request First on Marriot to Marriott

deposit

And obviously, you can request a later date if you actually "deposit" your week with II.

However, I will note I've gotten burned on depositing too early before. I've deposited and then three months later they've offered bonus week certificates for a deposit. So now I request first.... but that obviously limits how far into the calendar year I can request.

Now I'm fully confused. I understand the concept of being able to put in a request for a week after the date of your reservation, but when does that request end, since there will be a point when the request first week either needs to be deposited or used.

75 Days before reserved week if there is still no match the II member has two choices.

From the Buyer's Guide:

If a Club Program Exchange Member or Individual Member selects
the Special Marriott Internal Exchange Option and II does not issue
a Confirmation from 12 months to at least 75 days prior to the
commencement date of the member’s assigned Week
, such Club
Program Exchange Member or Individual Member has the following
options
:
(a) The Club Program Exchange Member or Individual Member may
request that his or her assigned Week be automatically returned
to him or her for his or her own use and that II cancel the pending
exchange request
.
(b) The Club Program Exchange Member or Individual Member may
request that II continue processing his or her exchange request
and that the assigned Week be deposited with II
. If this option is
chosen, all rights to occupy the assigned Week are relinquished
by the Club Program Exchange Member or Individual Member and
assigned to II 75 days prior to the commencement date of the
deposited Week, irrespective of whether II ultimately confirms
the pending exchange request. In the event such request is not
ultimately confirmed by II, such Club Program Exchange Member’s
or Individual Member’s deposit will be governed by the terms and
conditions of the Deposit First exchange method as set forth under
Week-Based Exchange Methods above.

Resolved!

Finally got my request the way I wanted it. Called the MVCI VOA who first did an online chat with the Marriott desk at II. Then she connected me and made my request for weeks past the orginal week check out date.

She said just mention Marriott to Marriott Interal exchange and any II rep should know how to handle the request. I tired that yesturday with at least 5 reps and they could not do it.

Today the rep did have to cancel my orginal request and make a new one under the Special Marriott to Marriott Interanl Exchange to extend the reuest first dates.

Now another question, she made my request for MKO(Ko Olina) and MAW (Waiohai) and MKW(Kauai Beach Club). When ever I make my own request I also include MK1(Also Ko Olina) and MA1(also Waiohai). Does it make a difference? Is there a chance that a unit in MK1 or MA1 would not match with a request for MKO and MAW?

Are you a DC points owner? Best to be safe and have II add those other codes. They supposedly check all codes for the resort in their search but I don't like leaving anything to chance.

Just did it.... Thanks!!!

Thanks NJMOM2 and others... I had previously tried Request First for a later exchange date, Marriott to Marriott and had been told a couple times, by both II and Marriott that I couldn't do that. After reading this thread, I tried again today and after being rejected by Marriott rep, I referred to the "special MVCI exchange" and then was allowed to do so. She called II and they immediately let me put in the request first for the later exchange date. TUGGERs are the best!! :cheer: :cheer:

additional question special M to M request first option

I re-read the II Buyer's Guide (Item #5 in section titled "Marriott Internal Exchange Procedures and Priorities") and still have a question:

Using the special Marriott to Marriott REQUEST FIRST exchange option - which allows a DC member to request an MVCI property for dates beyond the date of their home resort reservation - how far out beyond the home resort reservation date can the request first be made for ?
