On ACs, we have the following language:

"Please note this certificate may not be used to travel to your home resort or within
your home resort group. Your home resort group is defined as any resort affiliated or
under common ownership or management with your home resort."

What does this mean? No MVC resorts (even though I see them when I redeem)?

Sounds like the home resort group for a Marriott owner would include all MVC properties.

Where does it say this? Is this new?

Or the "may not" may mean "may or may not" (depending on the rules of the resort). Hyatt does not let it's owners exchange back into Hyatt and I think they may also have restrictions for AC's and Getaways. Unless Marriott has made some recent changes, I don't think this will be the case. II doesn't really care but they are willing to enforce the developers wishes.

I can see MVCs when I try to redeem it - just worried they won't honor it later after I make travel arrangements.

To me, it sounds like you can't use it at your home resort. And if your resort belongs to the Florida Club, for example, you can't use it at any of those resorts either. Boy, even that narrow interpretation sucks. If it means all Marriotts, then ACs just went from being mostly useless to totally useless, IMO.

When I look for availability, it actually shows me options for my home resort. :crash:

I'm going to call and get the scoop on this.

It says “may not” not can not. Give them broad flexibility for restriction.

Well, I called Interval and asked. The lady had to ask around and was told that even though you can see availability at MVCs with your bonus AC, you shouldn't book it as it may not be honored at some point. Still pretty vague.

I'm totally a beg for forgiveness vs. ask for permission kind of person but wouldn't want to show up to the resort and have the certificate not honored. Then again, I've never traded before now so I don't know the ins and outs of that process.

It is also confusing because I have at least 6 different timeshare/timeshare groups in my account. The AC's aren't tied to specific weeks.

I've used them for years at Marriotts, 20 years. Don't know if it's new language or not.

I have used them to book at cypress harbor Orlando last year and years before at hhi, neither my home resort, but in the mvc. However it may be a new rule. I would expect if they made the ressie they would honor it.

I’ve used on vistana resorts and own vistana VOI. Two years ago however. May be a new rule

I received an AC for making a deposit of a Marriott unit - - it is good for a year and includes a "request option".

So I tried to put in a request for Tahoe for July, August and first week of Sept.: Marriott Timberlodge, Hyatt High Sierra, Hyatt Northstar and Welk Northstar. 3 of the 4 were denied and the last one defaulted the request date to the first week of Sept.

So, apparently the request type AC either has super low trading power or has some major restrictions.

Lots of restrictions have always been in place for the ACs that you can request.

This language has pretty much always existed for ACs given for when you deposit your week. I am not aware that it has ever been enforced. Most interpretations seem to indicate that you couldn't use it at your home resort. For properties with multiple II resort codes (like Grande Vista with MGV and MGR), you perhaps couldn't use the AC to book in to MGV if you technically owned MGR. Again, never heard of it being enforced.

I have used an AC to trade to my home resort no issues. An AC is only good for off season and last minute units.
No request for a high demand week like Tahoe in summer will work with an AC, September yes summer no.

Well, I guess I'm going to find out as I just using the online booking function to book two weeks at Barony in November, I'm assuming with the first floor parking lot (garden) view. :)

In November you will probably get a second or third floor pool view in the back/garden view building.

2 yrs ago I used an AC to book my home resort. I own platinum but with the AC I booked a gold week, and I got one of the best units/views I've ever gotten before!

Just got my confirmations, so I guess once again, TUGgers know more than the people on the phone.
