Iceland/Greenland cruise

Love it! Beautiful!

How nice. So you have to fly into Iceland to board?
Yes. We flew Icelandair from Seattle and upgraded to First using Alaska miles. We went like 3 days early to acclimate to the time and explore Reykjavik. Nice clean city.

I climbed a good part of Dynjandi in July 2023! ! We reached shore by zodiac from our ship anchored in the fjord. It's so beautiful there!View attachment 98237
Yes, there was a Seaborne in the fjord doing wet landings while we were there. In my pic, you can see them all in their orange slickers wandering the place.
We went by road in Mercedes vehicles like this:

Thanks so much for the photos Jim! We'd have been sailing with you except that the Newfoundland stop was cancelled šŸ˜ž
We had absolutely stunning, perfect weather for cruising the Prinz Christian Sund passage through Greenland yesterday. The previous (eastbound) cruise had to pass due to iceburgs. We missed you, Newfies or not.

That's cool! I saw that road winding around the coast. That must have been a beautiful ride! We were on Lindblad National Geographic Expeditions Resolution. My first trip to Iceland was aboard Celebrity.

Storybook pictures!

Why isn’t this in the TUGBoats cruise forum?

Welp. We missed the latest new volcanic eruption in Iceland by a couple of days. The fissure began opening and flowing lava near Grindavik (now evacuated and abandoned) at 9:30 last night. (Aug 22, 2024) Glowing fountains and flows are visible from Reykjavik, about 30 km distant.

We had a beautiful port day yesterday in Qaqortoq, Greenland.

Now for a couple of relaxing sea days in our floating resort on the way to Halifax, Nova Scotia.
