scary to think they can make this error
You want an error at costco? About 1 month ago, I was checking out of costco. The cashier was in the Holiday Spirit, chatting away. The following took 30 seconds.

She "finished" scanning my stuff and told me to tap my CC to pay. I did. Nothing happened. I tred again and nothing again. At that point she was chatting with the people after me. I told her it wasn't registering. She looked and said "Oh, I didn't close the scan." She then said "Try again". I did and it worked. She handed me the receipt. I looked at it and knew it was about $100 more than I expected. I noticed a charge at the bottom that said "2025 Season" for $99.99. No idea what that was. Also a $10 charge for something I had not bought. I said to her "I think these last 2 charges are wrong." She looked. I looked in the direction of the conveyor where the next people's stuff was sitting. I saw a gift-card-looking thing that said "SF Giants". Simultaneously,
I thought "2025 Season? SF Giants? Seems like more than a coincidence."
The people with the SF Giants package said "I think you might have paid for our Giants tickets."
My CC had not worked because the cashier had not shut the scanner off. She was standing there waving the scanner around while chatting and had scanned 2 of their items. It was funny. "Merry Christmas"
