I heard Royal Resorts in Cancun and Festiva Resorts cancelled their affiliation agreement with I.I. I know it's true with regards to Festiva, but can anyone confirm whether or not its true with Royal Resorts?

Festiva

When did Festiva leave II? I wasn't aware that they had. I don't usually deposit my week, but I do like options.

I was on an exchange at the Maui Marriott a couple of weeks ago. The conversation came up while socializing with other guests who own at those properties in addition to other resorts. Two different Festiva owners mentioned it, and a Royal owner said he thinks the same happened with his resort too.

Festiva Queried

I have queried Festiva on this point. If I get a reply, I will post it here.

As it stands now, the II link from Festiva is still active, and there has been no mention of recent activity related to II on the Festiva web pages.

Every year resorts switch between II & RCI. This year all the shell resorts switched to II from RCI. So although some resorts switched to RCI some others have switched to II.

If developers wanted to be member-friendly, what they would do is dual affiliate rather than switch.

If a developer truly wanted to be member-friendly, dual-affiliating wouldn't rank any higher than about #20 on the list of things they could do.

Agreed, but this thread was limited to the subject of affiliation with exchange companies, and that is the top thing they could do within the context of the subject of this thread.

Carolinian, I agree 100%. If resorts want to be owner friendly, they need to give options for exchanging to all owners.

We own Blue Ridge Village, a Festiva resort, and going to RCI will be a HUGE problem for me. I haven't heard anything about it, and since I own a week that is just managed by Festiva, and I am not in the Festiva system itself, I have to think this is not something they can force upon us. I got rid of my Foxrun weeks because BRV traded a little better. Now Foxrun is trading better than before, and losing II would be awful for me. Awful.

I own weeks at the Royal Resorts. I haven't been notified of any changes with II membership. As far as I know, Royal Mayan is still dual affiliated and the rest are all II. I Just made an II exchange last week.

Why is it that so few resorts seem to be dual affiliated? For maximum owner benefit, this ought to be the norm.

Most of mine are. I wish they all were.
