If an exchange is filled (and for the sake of argument, it is exchanged for Friday and one needs a Sunday check-in), does one lose priority in the "exchange line" by redepositing the unit within the 24-hour free cancellation period to ask for a different check-in date or even to keep searching other properties that were once part of the original exchange request?

Thank you for your help.

No. With II there is no priority except the trade power of the original unit you used for deposit or offered up for the exchange. It isn't first come first serve with II. You could place a request 12 months in advance, then someone comes along at 6 months and offers a unit with higher trade power, at 5.5 months the unit you are both seeking gets deposited. Guess who gets the unit. The guy that came along at 6 months, not you who was waiting 6 months longer than him.

Cancelling your exchange within 24 hours and reinstating the OGS has no effect on your priority.

It works as a tie breaker, if trading power is equal the earlier request will get it. Requesting earlier also helps because you might request and someone might deposit before someone with better trading power request that week. Every now and then I a see freaky good prime deposit 13-18 months in advance. Most haven't set up their searches that early. Most don't deposit that early so most think why bother searching that early. The early bird can catch the worms that come out before the bigger birds start hunting.
