I haven't been to a barber in at least ten months, and probably more than eleven. I've been cutting my own with clippers. I keep it simple: 5 on the top, 4 on the sides, a 2 to taper the back. The first attempt was pretty rough but I got the hang of it quickly. It certainly doesn't look as professional as a professional's would, but it is good enough that it might be a while before I go back and spend the money.

No one else---men or women---in my immediate family has done this. They've all popped into a stylist when it was possible, and grown it out when it hasn't been.

I've done feathered bangs and blunt shoulder length cut myself since last HC in March and dog shears to DH and DS--I can get the sides/back looking like a barber, but DS's somewhat wavy top is challenging! We've saved over $600 in HC!

I have been cutting my own hair for about 3 years now, although I did go to a salon for a trim in Feb 2020 just before the COVID shutdown. Her cut was worse than how I cut it myself. I also do my own highlight and color. I have also been cutting my husband's hair for at least 10 years now. My sailor ex-husband used to joke that I should set up a stand whenever we reached shores to earn a bit of money cutting the hair of other sailors.

with not much on top and just the sides - self barbering is getting easier
I'm pretty much in your boat, just the sides and back. A couple of years ago I bought a razor comb on Ebay for $9.95. For the last 3 years or so I have just run it through my hair a couple times a week. No barber shops for me. About every 4 or 5 months I have to replace the regular double edge blade it uses. Works great, big savings - one time $9.95 vs many $15-$20 haircuts...

I have a ponytail down between my shoulder blades. I am just going to let it grow forever.

My hair needs a cut badly. I have had 2 (maybe 3) cuts since this all started, early June and mid October for sure but now we have all salons shut down. I have also quit coloring my hair and have embraced using purple shampoo to bring out the grey. I haven't minded the color or the lack of haircuts until recently but will be clamoring to take a solid 2 inches off when I do get in. The only saving grace is I gave up layers knowing that I could not control how often I could get a cut. Hoping that by this summer I can go back to significantly shorter.

No pony tail here but my hair today is to the shoulder blades in back and shoulder on the sides. I'm having it cut off tomorrow. I'm thinking about having it cut way back to at least mid ear on the sides and a bit longer in the back. I was going to keep growing it but its looking like kung fu theater instead of 70's rock. Pai Mei versus 70's Mick Jager and I guess its looking more like Pai Mei, lol.

I have yet to swing by a Great Clips to fix up my efforts. It was easier when my hair was longer but chopping it when I got sick made sense. Wished I wouldn't have done that. Short hair with a bad style is somehow much worse than one-length long hair. My hair is fine, grows slowly, is subject to split ends, and is thinning due to a med I'd rather not be on. It will take a long time to get it down my back again.

The Commander in Chief have been cutting my hair for the passed year. She is doing a very good job. IMHO.

However, I will not let her used a razor to shave me. LOL.:ROFLMAO:
