I have a nice MROP membership that lets me deposit in either VRI*ety, RCI, PI or II.
In the past I have deposited with VRI*ety and RCI - they went "OK" (not great - not badly).

For 2013 I need an April or May week at either Worldmark Running Y or Worldmark Clear Lake to take the family to the Redwoods.

Trouble is neither VRI*ety or RCI has anything for me - and I would like to know if it is worthwhile for me to join II to get this trade.

So - would a nice friendly TUGGER with access to II's site check availability for this exchange - Running Y or Clear Lake for April or May 2013.

TIA

I think II gets less than half of what RCI gets from Worldmark. I don't see any availability for either resort in II.

another possibility would be to find a wolrdmark owner and do a direct trade...there is a worldmark owners forum here www.wmowners.com the folks there are very helpful

Of course you do what I just did...buy some worldmark. You can buy a small contract and rent points from other members if you need them...and if you dont use your worldmark every year Im told they make excellent traders in RCI and II

I really hope you will let us know how the WM works out - I have looked and looked at WM but I am just a nervous nelly about a "pure" points system and their ability to "inflate" the points.

I see the newer WM (and Wyndham Points) resorts cost a lot more credits to stay in than than the older resorts - making stays ever more expensive out of relationship to the regular inflation rate.

And of course I just need a week - not a whole nother' timeshare set of MF's.

I see that they have Getaways available at WM running Y for end of April thru mid May, etc. $600 for 1 BR and $650 for 2 BR.

There's a single Clear Lake at the end of June. Pricey. $1060 2 BR.

Good luck.

Gah, You're in Spokane. WM would be awesome for you. I looked and looked at WM too..I bought Maui first (resale) and then realized WM could do all I wanted including Hawaii. Next two purchases were WM. I've got others BUT WM is my favorite. I just booked a friend for a last minute San Fran weekend on bonus time today. LOVE the flexibility of WM. Of course, if you just want the one week-then buddy up with someone who owns WM. Clear Lake is on bonus time all the time. Both Running Y and Clear Lake have a lot of availability right now for April. Shouldn't be hard. Good Luck!

I'm a WM owner and can help you out with this.
Clear Lake is probably the closest timeshare to the redwoods and you can do a day trip to Armstrong State Park but it would be a long day trip to the main show near the National Park. Doable but a very long drive on some windy roads.
Running Y is a good choice for a stop on the way down. I usually book a stay there in that timeframe.

Your best bet might be to split time between the two. The beauty of a points system is that you aren't stuck with a week. You could do 3 nights at Running Y on the way down, 4 nights at Clear Lake, maybe a night or 2 in a motel/cabin in the Redwoods and then a couple of nights at Running Y on the way home. In red season (which is most of April and all of May here), you need to book at least 7 nights, but not all at the same place. You just have to pay for housekeeping for each stay. There are some tricks to booking less than 7 nights and I think they would work for Running Y to get a few nights on the way home.

Both of these usually have lots of availability for April or May. PM me if you are interested and can see what will work out.

Sue
