So is there any 'value' in being able to purchase HVC Platinum Program points? Say you can pick up 420,000 points on Ebay for $299. The annual MF's are like $2700. The closing costs are another $500 or so. Is there value in 420,000 points for the annual MF's being charged? I know the answer is 'it depends' on where you want to stay and what time of year you want to travel but this seems to be a lot of points and I would like to understand the comparison of owning these 420K points for this purchase price when compared to a deeded week or other arrangement. Anyone care to break it down for me?

It depends how you intend to use the points. Just check around for what you would have to pay in cash vs how many points it would take to book the same week. Calculate the MF portion for that amount of points and then you have your comparison.

420,000 points get you lots of options (albeit these are the old Welk system) . Let's go with some simple ones. It will get you a standard 2-bed in Northstar and a 2-bed Lockout in Cabo.
For Northstar, per Kayak, a refundable week Aug 4 -11 in the std 2-bed will cost about $5120.
Same deal in Cabo, ocean-front, will run about $4500.

I'm casually looking at a resale purchase of points. How often has the point value schedule changed?

I am completely unfamiliar with this program and I also can't clearly make out the attachments.
It looks to me like you could get a 1 Bedroom at Disney for 120,000 points through II ?
Seems like too good of a result so I am thinking I am misunderstanding something pretty significant

Your interpretation is correct actually. I myself did an exchange for 1 bdr at a Disney resort for 120K Platinum Points. However, Interval just increased exchange rates for various vacation club systems, so it's now approx 30% more as of Jan 1, 2024.

So they changed the the exchange rate for HVC platinum point too, not just Hyatt, ouch...

I have always been interested in certain of their locations, especially now that I am getting back into skiing. Do you know if it is difficult to book Northstar ski season, 15 months out and/or last minute? I currently have Worldmark and it is (almost) impossible to book Park City :wall:

There is plenty of inventory to book Northstar at 15 months out. The only week you probably won't find is President's week.

You'll find inventory for resorts like Piñon Pointe, Wild Oak Ranch, and off season for some of the others, but you won't find any prime weeks for some of the desirable resorts since HRC has an internal club-to-club exchange. As a result, only the "unwanted" weeks make their way onto Interval. It's more or less the same story for Marriott/Westin. This is true for anyone looking to exchange into these timeshare programs.
Do you mean for weeks or conversion of points pp>>ii points as in ex. below.

Are pp not treated equally as ii points or are Hyat pp somehow downgraded to give limited inventory as above ex? A but confused on this.

So if you had 300k pp convert to 300k ii would entire ii inventory not be available to you or somehow be degraded in terms of what you can book in ii, is this what you meant above or did you just mean to say there is lack of ii inventory in ii points system since not many deposits are being made because of each system having it's own exchange system.

I would think pp=ii points with no tier structure as to origin of points.

When you booked the Disney was it through ii points conversion or through pp internal system. How far in advance did you have to book and did you get your desired result or did you have to compromise.

Do you happen to have the new 2024 chart of Hyatt Platinum points needed for an II exchange based on the TDI.

This might be the closest you will find right now.

These points are for the former Hyatt Residence Club. I am looking for the Hyatt Vacation Platinum points (old Welk). I went through my spam folder and I never received an email on the change in points. Neither can I find anything on either the Lounge or II web sites.

If you try to do a mock trade, does it show grids like in that linked post?

No chart appears when doing a mock trade.
You may need to reach out to Hyatt or II and ask them if they have an updated version of the II Buyers Guide for Hyatt Vacation Club owners.

By "traditional" Hyatt Vacation Club do you mean the Hyatt Residence Club? If so, they made an announcement back in May 2022 that they were not going to do any type of internal exchange offering to the former Welk Resorts (now Hyatt Vacation Club) and vice-versa. Instead, members would have to exchange via Interval at a reduced exchange fee. It's explained in detail pretty well at this link: https://www.hyattresidenceclub.com/inspirations/may-2022/introducing-hyatt-vacation-club.
Has this changed?
