Hi to anyone who has been to Sedona in the winter months. Do you think this is a great time of year to go, and would the 11.5 hour drive from CA be okay in the winter months? We'd be going with two kids, ages 6 & 9. Is it too relaxed for kids?

Hey Denise, my DH has been eyeballing Sedona as a possible Xmas/NYE trip down the road. Too many weeks, too little time:rofl:

We were there in January and found it wonderful. The scenery was astounding and the shops and restaurants refreshing. That was even right after snow storms hit Scottsdale, Sedona, and Flagstaff. But the roads were clear, it was sometimes sunny, and the weather not too chilly. For kids 6 & 9, it might be a little boring, but it depends on what the kids are used to and what activities you plan for them. We stayed at Four Seasons Scottsdale and Wyndham Flagstaff, and there were just DH and myself. Beware of a small house right outside of town, by a gas station, signed "Sedona Information Center". It was actually a timeshare booth for Los Abrigos (sp?).

Denise,

Sedona is great anytime of the year of course winter it is cold but there is always something to do.

Personally I would go when it is warmer with the kids even more fun things to do.

Mesamarige is the expert on Sedona Hyatt because he has been there many more times then most of us.

I like Hyatt Sedona in Early Summer or Fall but I love Hyatt TAHOE year round.

:cheer: Dont forget all Hyatt Tahoe owners please vote for Steve Dallas for the HOA Board ballots coming out next week:cheer:

We love Sedona any time of the year. We just returned from a week with our Grandkids. I wouldn't recommend the Hyatt for a winter stay with small children. It is a lovely resort but there is not much to offer for young kids during the winter. You would be better off choosing a resort with an indoor pool and lots of kid's activities like Villas of Sedona. The Hyatt has a great central location but other than that there isn't that much that makes it special. JMHO And, yes, I have stayed there and at several other Sedona resorts. I think your kids would get bored pretty quickly with only a small outdoor pool (in January...brrrr) and playground and NO kid's activities.

Hi Denise, Ive been thinking about Sedona also-I think it may be too cold for your children in winter....unless they have Penguin blood, like mine. Then again, if the stay will probably only be for 3-4 days - kids can find a lot to do.
That twelve Hour drive is tough - from Ca to Sedona. It seems like the only mid-way stop-off points are Bakersfield or Barstow- In the past, Ive used HH points to stay in a Homewood suites. Barstow- they are just ok

It would be nice to get a better halfway stop between here and arizona- any suggestions from the road warriors out there in tUGLAND?
