Hyatt Coconut Plantation

We recently returned from a trip there and I have to say we were extremely impressed. We are used to Marriott resorts and this was our first stay at a Hyatt. The dedicated lazy river tops any lazy river that we have seen at a resort. Granted we haven't seen many but it is far superior to the integrated lazy rivers at Marriott's Lakeshore Reserve and the JW Marriott next door to it in Orlando.

It's not on the beach but having the ferry boat take you to a private island beach with facilities is in many ways much better.

Looking forward to going back again at some point. There aren't many deposits there but there seemed to be a handful of late Jul/Aug dumps and I assume that will happen again. The resort was not at capacity during our stay.

I've been debating whether to go here but not being on the beach has been a deterrent. After what you said about the beach and especially the lazy river I'll definitely put it on my list. I went to the Coconut Point mall near there when I stayed at Seawatch on the Beach 2 years ago, and liked the area that the Hyatt is in.

My sister usually picks up weeks in the November/December timeframe. She has a son in Ft Meyers and celebrates holidays with him this way. She and her husband love the resort.

Hyatt Coconut Plantation is my hubby's most favorite resort. Loves lazy river, steam sauna, golf, private island beach and nature around the buildings.
Most hyatt resorts (except key west locations) are more upscale than Marriott, Hilton or Westin and offer daily housekeeping.
I usually stay there during winter break or spring break and weather was always beautiful.

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point a few years ago when I was able to get a hotel room there inexpensively through Last Minute Travel. I believe it is a sister resort to Coconut Plantation.

The resort was beautiful and we LOVED the pool. I too thought I would miss the beach, but there is a boat shuttle that takes you from the hotel to a private beach with chairs and facilities. Even the boat ride was wonderful! I would love to stay there again!!

HCP is a wonderful property for most - only people disappointed are those that have to be right on the beach. When staying at Hyatt Coconut Point (hotel) or Coconut Plantation (TS), guests can use the pools at either property - except during holiday weeks (due to Hyatt's expectation of being at full capacity holiday weeks, they do not offer pool recisprocity).

FWIW The lazy river at Hyatt Wild Oak is nicer than the one at HCP - but the pools at HCP are slightly nicer than HWO.

We took the little boat ride to the private beach two weeks ago.
The beach was okay, but not a quintessential Gulf beach - just a bit murky + choppy.
However, the boat ride was fun as some dolphins played in wake following the boat.

It's because that part of the beach is not completely natural. They (Community and Hyatt) spent 3 million bucks putting that sand there. That's why it ends up kind of dropping off into choppy water instead of a gradual and even sandy beach. By default there would be hardly any sand and the shore line would come close to the trees. This happens with small islands because the waves erode and push the sand through the channels on either side.
