I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO EITHER PLACE. WE ARE FROM UP NORTH. ANY THOUGHTS? JUST ME AN MY HUSBAND, MAYBE ANOTHER COUPLE. WE ARE JUST LOOKING TO RELAX, GO OUT TO EAT, ENJOY SOME ADULT BEVERAGES AND POOL/BEACH.

Very difference experiences.

Beach House is a smaller more compact resort. Nice pool, not much of a beach (and there aren't "amazing" beaches very nearby...but lots of watersports in the Key West area). Excellent restaurants to explore in downtown Key West but you either need to drive (and deal with parking downtown) or bike about 20 minutes (we did the latter, which was great for us).

Bonita Springs is a much more spread out resort (which shares some facilities with the hotel nearby). Excellent pool/lazy river/slides. The resort itself is in the mangrove area so you have to take a free boat shuttle trip to the beach. Restaurants definitely a drive (for anything off resort) but not as much parking hassle as Key West once you get to where you want to go. However, you're talking longer distances to get to more lively areas (like Naples or Fort Myers which would be 30 min).

Key West (once you're downtown) has a bit more of a "party" vibe...but Beach House itself is relatively quiet and low key. Bonita Springs is pretty quiet and low key as are the nearby areas I'd imagine you'd go to visit/eat out.

I love both locations and we rotate each year where we go, I own at Hyatt Beach House and will be heading there in March in 2022. This past January we were at Hyatt Coconut Plantation in Bonita Springs... If its adults only I would go to Key West but you will have a fabulous time wherever you go from these two choices.

It would probably be less expensive and easier for you to get to and stay at the Coconut Planation, as your first venture down south. And the Plantation is an outstanding property. I do rate it higher than the Beach House, i.e. over all attractiveness, facilities and setting on the golf course etc. If you search this forum, you will find several threads describing the attractions of the Planation and the area around it (Bonita Springs, Estero, Fort Myers, and Naples). I was one of the first owners at the Coconut planation, and it's something I've never regretted. And I have stayed at every Hyatt (VC) Residence Club in the system and do / have owned at 4.

Beach House owner and Key West native chiming in.

There is nothing like the Florida Keys -- even in the twilight of its life. I went home in 2019 and that's basically that for my trips home. There is no reason for me to ever return. But I'd still take Key West over any other place in Florida. I far prefer the Beach House to Windward -- no adjacent airport. Sunset Harbor is preferable but good luck ever trading for a Snowbird week. Beach House is an easy Uber downtown (don't rent a car in Key West -- it is neither necessary or desirable.) Then you can say "buh-bye" to the crazy and return home and relax at night.

Coconut Plantation is more chill. It is a VERY nice property but not much going on. You can make reservations for the shuttle AND the boat to go out to a private beach with chairs and umbrellas included - but no food/drinks onsite other than vending style (you can take a cooler). Sound like a pain but the boat ride is fun and we often see dolphin. The onsite pool is spectacular and the small bar/restaurant onsite is limited but pretty decent. There is also an onsite lazy river.

Beach House is the Keys. You go there to have a lot to do. You will need to uber or drive and park to go to downtown where everything is.

So i would say it depends on whether you want to chill and enjoy the pool and beach or have a more active vacation.

Will have to agree with everything that's been said above. Key West is great for things to do but focus is more adult. Coconut Point is more chill and family oriented. We own a unit at Hyatt Beach House that we enjoyed until we had grandkids. Now the preference is Coconut Point. Am sure that we'll make the change back as the grandkids get older.

I would say for the most part, you go to Beach House to go and see Key West (especially if it is your first trip). You go to Coconut Plantation for the resort. Though there is still lots to do in the area, just most of it is at least a 20 minute drive.
