Hurricane Cancellation?

We are scheduled for a vacation next week in DC at Wyndham's Old Town Alexandria.

If Hurricane Joaquin makes a turn towards DC, I was wondering:

What happens if the resort has to close because of a storm?

We are not traveling until Monday, so the storm will have moved through by then.....but if it floods the area, closes local businesses, etc.....it could possibly close things.

So, when a storm closes or evacuates a Wyndham.....do you lose the points? Get them back? Get to reschedule?

I'm headed for Myrtle Beach Saturday. Looks like it will strike the Chesapeake Bay Bridge area (it changes by the hour), so I think I will be all set. If it turns to MB, I will probably be part of a mass exodus. Interesting questions, but if the resort closed, I would think points would be returned. Maybe others have been through it in the pass. They will shed light on it.

I have had points returned with no hassle when local conditions were hazardous. I.E. snow storm etc. Often there will actuall be a travel advisory on the Wyndham website page for the local resort.

I was staying at Marriott Beachplace and got a 1 page letter under my door ... saying in effect "resort is closing for the safety of our employees. .... Oh, and GET OUT!"

Could care LESS about people 1000+ miles from their homes. And no adjustment for exchangers. Got one of the last seats back home ... everybody on the plane were HAPPY CAMPERS.

Storm followed up the coast ... it seemed like I would NEVER be free from the weather channel & hurricane chasers.

I called before my checkin date but within the 15 day window, maybe a day or two before checkin. Twice at Nat harbour, one time for snow and another time because of a major water main failure in the area.

We were in the Poconos at Wyndham Crestview during hurricane Sandy. The power went out and there was no estimate on when it would be restored. We decided to go home where there was plenty of power. I asked about the possibility of a credit and was advised to call RCI. So when I got home I called RCI and they cancelled the vacation and put the week back in my bank. I also called the company that we had paid for internet access and they gave us a full refund as well. Never hurts to ask......

The early July storm on the East Coast had me and my group not going on Wyndham resort vacation --- 2 units. I had storm damage at home (more than a dozen trees down). I call Owner Care and got the points back... was easy but was before checkin date.
