"But we have 6 in our family. 2 small children who will be sleeping on air mattress plus 4 adults. So, we will take your rental."

Let me see ... the people under you call the front desk due to noise; resort boots you OUT or charges you $1500+ to move you to a 2/2 unit (rack rate) ... you decide I should reimburse YOU?

Where is the upside in me RENTING to you?

PS These same people emailed me on another resort in the next town ... looking for a discount. Thankfully, I do NOT have anything left for their date needed.

I honestly have no idea where some of these people come from...crazies.
After giving you the good news they will be exceeding your max occupancy, they proclaim, "So we will take your rental." ?? Ha ha ha.

Six in a studio.

Hmm. Doesn't sound like vacation to me....
Maybe it's that 'new math' thing.

It is the "2 kids on the air mattress" logic. We brought their bed with them.

"Kids don't count" for being real people.

Everyone LOVES kids; they are so cute.

That is all the grandparents can afford to pay to take us to Florida.

Who will notice during a holiday week with all the other people?

They SHOULD have just lied ... except they WANT ME to be responsible for not getting them kicked out or PAYING for additional housing.

I rented a cottage near my home so my kids could see each other. I intended my son his wife and baby in it (sleeps six). daughter in law didn't like trip adviser reviews so they rented hotel. so my daughter and her husband and two kids will take it and she decides to give her in-laws a vacation too I put up two sisters and brother in law in my house. all fine, but son in law invites old friend. I said old friend sleep at my house, but no he goes and sleeps on the sofa bed in cottage, two kids get in king size bed with parents. cottage is 650 square feet. made me mad as I was violating rules.
meanwhile I have 15 people eating all meals at my house. decided never do it again, and my family doesn't really need to see each other. I ended up not being able to give attention to grandkids that I wanted.
I did nice for daughters girlfriend, gave them three bedroom in Orlando. see pictures on Facebook her friend had 7 kids (divorced) but kids brought friends, she brought friends, total disregard for limits: think there were at least a dozen.

.....

I do solo timeshare trips with my nieces and nephews ... no parents, no siblings, and NONE of the kid's MUNCHING friends. If a 12yo can't travel without a sibling or "friend", they are not going to handle 1000 (or 3,000) miles from home with their aunt. I actually have found the REAL stressor during the trip ... is the parent(s) who are nibbling on their fingernails.

Kids really GROW with adventures with other adult family members .. it is the link between their parent personality and the kid's genes ... after all, I grew up with the kid that their parent was and with the partial gene set our siblings have. ;)

This is just so frustrating. Why do so many people think kids don't count in occupancy limits? I hear it all the time. I planned a dinner event a couple months ago and tickets sold out, occupancy was at the limit and we didn't have any more chairs. Well, I get people starting to ask if their kids can just sit on their laps to make more room for a friend or spouse. What!? it's just crazy.

Occupancy limits are often about safety. Everyone should respect that and stay safe. Do these people make children share carseats and seat belts? Are they the kind of people who let kids ride in the back of trucks? These people should not be allowed to have kids; they treat their kids as disposable!

Just wait till it becomes state law that kids do not count against occupancy.

I do not like people trying to cram more people in then allowed. But for me it is usually wanting to get 12 into a 3 bedroom deluxe or 13 or 14 in a 4 bedroom presidential. Not really a space issue as the units are large but I do not need any heat with the resorts.

I have been asked multiple times if more people can occupy the units than the max occupancy and I have said absolutely not. I don't want to get in trouble with my home resort or with the renter.

However, my Marriott Ko Olina 2 BDLO has 1 king, 1 queen, and two full sofa beds (may be queen). Max occupancy is rated at 6. All other similar units I own at other resorts are rated at 8 people with a roll away (based on availability) that adds a ninth person. I guess Hawaii's fire regulations are more stringent. But, most people advertise the units as 8 or 9 people...
