Hulu Plus Hits 1.5 Million Subscribers - by Leslie Horn/ PCMag.com

What a difference a year makes.

Last January, Netflix was eating Hulu's lunch.

Now, Hulu has 1.5 million subscribers and Netflix has lost 800,000 subscribers in the last 12 months. Leslie is still not convinced that Hulu can keep all of its content partners happy in the long term, but right now it is rolling.

I've been a NetFlix customer for years, but I am going to give Hulu a try. I just loaded the Hulu Plus app on my iPhone and bought an A/V cable so I can connect my iPhone to a TV. I'm going to try this on our next vacation because the analog cable systems the resorts have are terrible. I just hope the resort WiFi systems can support streaming video.

I wouldn't count on that.

I've had trouble just getting normal web pages to come up and checking email in some hotels at busy times in the evening.

We paid for Hulu Plus for a few months, and I found it wasn't worth it. If I'm *paying* for a service, I don't want to have to sit through ads I can't zap. Yuck! Netflix Streaming is much more user-friendly service.

I knew the free Hulu had commercials, but you are telling me the paid Hulu has them also? That's outrageous! Count me out.

When you go to sign up for HULU Plus, they offer a free trial week. I am planning to try it on my first week at Mauii, and see how it goes. I agree, the internet connections are probably not good enough to stream video. Also, from what I've seen, the selection of movies on HULU isn't any better than NetFlix, which isn't great to begin with. I kept the BluRay disc option with NeFlix just so I could see what I want. Neither service is ideal.

Yup, that's what I'm saying. Exactly. (Esp. annoying when it's the same ad over and over, so you end up having to watch it 4 times during a 44 minute show....) It's the main reason we canceled the membership after just a few months.
