How will an "F" affect your life?

Life After Animal House.

My advice to you is to start drinking heavily. Then throw a toga party, go on a road trip, and totally ruin the annual college parade with 10,000 marbles and a float shaped like a birthday cake -- powered by a black '64 Lincoln "Deathmobile."

"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

"Germans?"

"Forget it. He's rolling."
When that movie came out, I went to see it at the theatre. Afterward, I phoned a good Friend For Life from college days & said, "Hey, did you see Animal House ?"

He said, "Did I see it? It brought tears to my eyes."

He went on to become a published author & full professor at a well known university in New England.

Won't. I had to F/X a class when I became very ill as a freshman. The F and the new grade, A-, were both used to figure my GPA but my grades were high enuf and plenty of credit hours - it got absorbed with no real impact to my GPA. I made Dean's List the next year.

So far as I know, no one has ever given a crap if they even knew.

When I get emails like that after-the-fact, I wonder why the student didn't contact me earlier so we could work together on how to bring up the student's work. Once the grade is in, it's too late for extra credit, another paper, or whatever. I would consider a change to an incomplete in a case such as Hoc's, and would correct a calculation error, but otherwise it's too late. I'll be interested in hearing what the professor says.

Yeah, I can't imagine he'll be interested in reviewing your work at this point. Take your lumps and see about re-take.

Brother-in-law had a full scholarship. He was barely under the required grade in one course. [Teacher wouldn't budge.] Lost the scholarship completely. Dad said it leveled the playing field at home. He went to work, stayed in school and graduated. Husband, 18 years older, didn't have great grades, completely paid his own way by working 40 hours while going to UCLA. Both found good jobs. No one ever asked DH about his grades, just his degree. So hang in there. Just pick a field you love and go for it.

Plan "B"

Just pick a field you love and go for it.
In the alternative, pick a field you can tolerate & go for it.
