I am trying to bank some Wyndham points with Redweek or SFX and what to know how to do it.

Wyndham is telling me it can't be done....WRONG answer.

If you have traded with another company using your Wyndham points to do so, please share the name of the company and the process for doing so.

It also makes me wonder..if I have an II account even though my Wyndham is not affiliated with II I should still be able to deposit my week with II. How can Wyndham tell me where I have to deposit my week.

Weeks, not points

Wyndham is correct in that you can't deposit points with SFX. You need to reserve a week that is acceptable to SFX with your points and than deposit this week with SFX. Hope this helps.

Hmm, so from my research trading with SFX, Trading Places and other independents I have to do the following;

- actually book a week within Wyndham using my points (which may cost 154,000 pts for a 2bedroom or at least 105,000pts)
- Call the company Redweek, SFX or Trading Places and they will work with Wyndham to get the week

- trading with II is out of the question as my Wyndham is points based only and my affiliation started with my first purchase at a Wyndham affiliated with RCI

Therefore, its best for me not to even go through the hassle, as I can get pretty good trades now using less points with RCI...I have not been unhappy with them yet, and I also can deposit my Sheraton Vistana with II to get other trades I may want.

Looks like the easiest solution is to keep trading with II and RCI.

It's definitely the easiest, and if you (like me) have been happy with RCI/II you're probably best continuing to use them.

To use the other organizations, in addition to having to book a Wyndham week internally before depositing it, you also have to make sure it's a week the exchange company wants. I know SFX for example will not accept all weeks as deposits. One of the benefits of using a company like SFX, for example, is if you deposit a high demand week you may be able to get more than one week in return for it.

yes, for any other exchange company, you will need to get a week they accepted, most exchange company will accept any week you deposit, SFX will accept only certain resort at certain time. But you don't have to be your home resort.

Once you call them say you will deposit the week, they will work with Wyndham from that moment.

You do loss the generic deposit convien.

Unless your goal is to extend your point, even in that cases, you can get 28k week and some exchange company will take it.

Some exchange company like SFX if you pay extra to become special member, sometime will have 1 to 3 special where you deposit 1 week, you get 3 exchange (one is on their Mexico affliation), and free upgrade. So you can extend your point that way.

However, the major benefit for go through these small exchange companies is some will specialist on certain araea, where they get more inventory per exchange base than RCI or II. And if you realize sometime if you go through RCI or II, you may not get any even if you deoposit 254k, you will realize they are the only way to go in these special area.

Also, some of them cost much less or no cost at all to joint and become member, and much less when exchange.

I may be wrong, but I think the 3 for one offer at SFX is open to Gold (free membership) as well as to the Platinum members. I have never used my Mexico bonus weeks because my DH can't see sitting on a beach as a fun thing to do on vacation.

Will II take a week that I book with Wyndham?

After reading above,

If I own at a Wyndham resort that is not affiliated with II and I book a week in Wyndham at one of the II affiliated resorts within Wyndham.

Will II still take that week? since I already have an II account?

No

II will have to verify with the resort about the ownership, and since they have certain special agreement with Wyndham, it is very likely no. But if it can be done, you need to start with the VC at II. Since some resort is very complicate to start with, you may get lucky.

RedWeek valuations...

I am trying to bank some Wyndham points with Redweek or SFX....

With RedWeek, you must first have a booked week firmly in hand. Points alone are not a "currency" that they can (or will) deal with at all. After you present a confirmed resort/week/unit size for their evaluation, RedWeek will then assign their OWN "RedWeek points" value to your reservation -- a valuation which does not in any way care about or at all consider the amount of Wyndham points you may have utilized to make that reservation. You don't have to "commit" the week for deposit to RedWeek before you know a specific valuation (....unlike RCI). You can reject the valuation and just decline to deposit the week, without cost or consequence.

Not waving the RedWeek flag --- just trying to explain their procedures...
