we own a deeded timeshare at the Bay Club in HawaiI which is part of HGVC. We purchased on the secondary market for $12,000 about 6-7 years ago. We have 13,440 points available in 2023. Our maintenance dues are approx $1,900/year. We would like to sell but have no idea how to do that or what it’s worth. We don't want to use a company that is going to take a large part of the sale. Any advice would be appreciated.

I haven't sold my timeshares but have purchased them on the secondary market. Did you contact HGVC and see if they would offer you anything? Or, use Diane Nadeau or Judi Kozlowski who sell HGVC resales and have listings on their websites to get an idea of today's value. Don't commit to anything until you see what the exact timeshare is going for in terms of the number of bedrooms etc. Also, look on Redweek to see sales and rental prices. Good luck. At least you purchased on the secondary market.

Every year is going for about ~$3000 on ebay. Every other year about half of that. A real estate agent will charge you $1500 so you won't end up with as much as you paid.

Prices have come down a lot. For example, Bay Club one bedrooms are typically given away for free on the TUG Bargain Forum.

If you want to avoid the broker commission, you can have a closing company handle your transaction. LT Transfers is highly recommended on TUG.

Here are some “asking” prices.
Keep in mind, the higher the price, the longer it’s going to take to get rid of it.

Hi @Marjo2022 and Welcome to TUG.

There are lots of threads on buying a HGVC timeshare.
I’ve personally dealt with Judy/Dana and Diane. They usually respond within one to two business days.

Brokers will advertise on various sites as well

Here’s what I wrote on a different thread .
I won’t expect a resale agent to get you the absolute lowest prices. Their prices will be higher due to their commission and in return they offer a level of security from the resale scammers. Keep in mind, these sellers spent tens of thousands for their week if they originally bought from the developer.

They will have prices in all ranges. Prices will vary from time to time depending how motivated the sellers are. Some sellers are firm on their selling price.

With the recommended agents, I just look for a reasonable price, not bargain basement prices unless we’re going through a time of uncertainty like last year with Covid-19. Sellers who use a resale agent generally expect to get more for their week. So if you’re looking for the absolute lowest prices then you’ll have to hunt for it yourself via the various websites (eBay, Redweek, etc).

Tips for those who don’t have any experience with Judi and Diane
With Judi’s website, I simply wait until a price appears close to the price that I’m willing to pay then make my offer.
With Diane, I was looking for a specific resort at HHV. Diane seems to prefer to talk to a person rather than communicate via email. But you have to follow up with Diane.
Anyone that has experience with trying to rent a timeshare knows that there are lots of folks that will waste your time asking questions with no intentions of really buying anything. I sent her a follow up email a few days later summarizing our conversation and my current ownership. She responded immediately to my email and found what I was looking for within the week.

I live in hawaii I am interested in your timeshare But I have to do some research first on Hgvc. But let me know what you have if you can get an estoppel that would be great. Also if you can call hgvc and ask them what is the process is to transfer the deed.
