How to maximize SO points

1) Is there a way to borrow staroptions from 2025 for a 2024 stay? I would like to add two days to a stay in 2024 (only need 12k points). I only own odd year star options.

2) If I bank my 2025 staroptions into 2026, can I borrow some of the staroptions back into 2025 if my plans change?

If you only own a single EOY odd year ownership, then there is no way to do this. You can't borrow back banked points and borrowed points can only be borrowed into a use year. However, if you have 2024 use you can borrow from 2026 by prepaying the fees for 2025 and 2026.

It sounds like the way to make this work for annual is to bank some SOs into the next year.

Can I borrow from future odd year e.g. 2027 to 2025 and then bank those borrowed points into 2026? (Just trying to understand my options)

I doubt it as you can only borrow points to make a reservation and if you later cancel the reservation they are returned to where they came from.

Right now, banking is into the next two calendar years. The only in use year restriction doesn't apply to banking. That will change for most owners in 2025 when banking will be for only one year (except Presidential and Chairman's Club owners). Not 100% sure how it will work for VSN only.

You can't bank borrowed points. You can only borrow at the time of making a reservation. If you cancel the reservation the points go back to their use year.
