How to get two units at the same time/same resort?

Hi!

I'm looking for a vacation next summer with my family (probably Mexico), and I don't want to be limited to 2br units.

I read somewhere that I can put one unit "on hold" and go back to see if there is a second of the same size.

What I'm not sure of is whether it matters that they are all in my name? Or, do I need a guest certificate? We would be going with our four children, all of whom are over 18 except for one who is 17.

We've never reserved more than one unit at a time....

Thanks so much!

You should call to make the exchanges so a Rep can check for you. Mexico is usually an easy exchange. As long as you are there, and can check-in, you don't need a guest Cert.

I did that just last year at the Grandview in Las Vegas (RCI). I used a deposit to book one two bedroom unit, received back whatever they now call the remaining TUPs and then booked the second 2 bedroom unit with that. All in a matter of minutes, online. No guest certificate. When I checked us into both units and the resort didn't bat an eye. But I doubt that anyone else in the party could have checked in without a GC, so I'd plan to have your adult kids arrive either at the same time or after you.

One thing that might be a bit different than what you are hoping to do - I confirmed the first unit (rather than put it on hold) because I could already see a second unit that would work (the check-in was one day later but we were not going to be in Vegas the full week anyway). A unit with the same start date did NOT show up in RCI immediately after I booked the first week.

Here's a thought, if you can see the one unit that you want, you could call the exchange company and tell them what you want to do. My bet is that they can see all the inventory and will know if it is possible.

OTOH, if all you are doing is putting a unit on hold, you're not out anything by giving it a try!

Best of luck, LeAnn
