I have some threads that I "watch" and get emails when there is new activity. How can I get a text sent to my phone?

this might be a feature in tapatalk, but it is not one native to the forum software that im aware of.

TapaTalk may be able to provide push notifications. I suggested to this poster in another thread that they should research their carrier. I know with Verizon where one could use @vtext.com with their mobile number but it seems that Verizon no longer supports it. I don't know if TapaTalk supports push notifications just for a specific thread. I know it's been discussed in the past regarding the Sightings forum and perhaps it works for new posts in a forum but that might produce a lot of unwanted notification volume.

another workaround would be to setup your email app on your phone to notify you with new emails...though you would get an alert for every email vs just tug notifications.

I think tapatalk app is going to be your best bet here as you can configure it to have alert notifications to your phone from forum watch list.

Perhaps it is possible to setup those notifications based on the email subject or who they come from? I know you can do that with rules in a desktop email app, but maybe not in a mail app on mobile.

So I've used the email to text feature of Verizon before and just tried sending number@vtext.com (for SMS message) where number is the 10 digit phone number (area code and 7 digit number in the US, not sure if using the country code works for non US locations ) and that worked for me as my smart phone received the text message (I use gmail for my email, and Verizon is my carrier).
The MMS message send seems to work also using number@vzwpix.com.

Edited: There are also similar formats for other carriers although I have not tested those recently. One thing to note is the amount of delay between sending the email and the text being received can vary depending on carrier (I have seen it take several minutes to an hour of more for some carriers, however Verizon seems to be pretty quick).
