How to get rid of reminder that "Updates are ready for your computer" (Service Pack 3

I keep getting a reminder that:
"Updates are ready for your computer. Click here to install these updates".

In the past, I have installed them---but this one is for Service Pack 3---and from what I have read many have chosen NOT to install that.

So, how do I get rid of the reminder. I'd like to not install Service Pack 3, but if they have other future things that need to be installed, I want to get the reminder for those.

I think you should install SP3. If you are concerned, take a full backup before you install it.

In general, you can use windows update, and hide certain updates. Run the full windows update, expand the item, and there's a checkbox to hide the update.

I agree with David. I'd install SP3. I had an issue the first time I tried it, my impatience, but when I let it install on it's own schedule everything has been fine. Much better IMO than SP2.
