How Often Are Marriott Properties Renovated

Generally, soft goods (linens, drapes, pillows, etc) are replaced every five years; hard goods (furniture, carpeting, etc) every ten; Kitchen and Bath fixtures (appliances, cabinets, counters) have a life of about twenty years. Exterior maintenance is performed on a set schedule dependent on local climate conditions so that paint and other finishes never degrade to the point where value is impacted, and they're always looking for ways to improve the exterior grounds and onsite amenities/activities.

Aside from all that MVW is pretty good about responding quickly to unanticipated degradation.

In Aruba they get a soft reno every 5 years and a major reno every 10 years.

I have found they replace the kitchen appliances more frequently, more closely to the 10 year refurbish cycle vs waiting for appliances to potentially bite the dust while someone is vacationing. At least I can say they've done this at Ocean Pointe. I can't say it's the same across the board but, MVC seems to be pretty strict about the standards they want maintained at their resorts. I would assume kitchen appliances are updated more closely to 10 years just because technology and styles change considerably in that time span. For instance, they moved from white appliances to black and then to chrome appliances when the style dictated. Now that chrome appears to be fading as a kitchen style I expect we will see something different in the near future.
